UFC 263 takes place this weekend at at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The lucky fans who’ve snapped up tickets for the latest UFC pay-per-view event will have the pleasure of watching three two massive title fights and the return of MMA icon, Nate Diaz.

In the main event Irsael Adesanya puts his middleweight title on the line in a highly anticipated rematch against Marvin Vettori. The pair previously fought in 2018 and on that occasion, ‘Stylebender’ emerged victorious via split decision.

Before that, Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno will re-run their exciting, Fight of the Year candidate when they squared off at UFC 256 in December. The pair threw down for five rounds at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas before the judges scored the fight a majority draw and Figueiredo retained his 125lb strap.

Israel Adesanya vs. Marvin Vettori

Israel Adesanya shot for the stars last time out but failed to dethrone light-heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz earlier this year. After the first loss of his MMA career, we are expecting a vintage performance from ‘Stylebender’ against Vettori. The -250 favourite should be able to handily deal with the +200 in the first few rounds in our opinion. We expect Adesanya to pick his shots and pound out ‘The Italian Dream’ inside three rounds to retain the 185lb title. If you bet on Adesanya to finish his opponent, you’ll increase your odds to +188.

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno

We are expecting much of the same as these two guys produced at UFC 256 late last year. Ultimately, we think Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno will scrap it out for five full rounds. It’ll be another close fight be this time we expect Figueiredo to be named the winner. Figueiredo is the -225 favourite but don’t write off Moreno who is a sizeable +188 underdog despite his impressive performance last time out.

Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz

The people’s main event will see UFC fan favourite, Nate Diaz for the first time since falling short in his bid to become the inaugural BMF titlist. Top welterweight contender, Leon Edwards is the man who stands between Diaz and his return to the win column. We expect ‘Rocky’ to make a significant in this one. He’s a huge -550 favourite. The question is does he have what it takes to stop Diaz in this five-round non-title fight? Edwards will join a very elite list of fighters who’ve stopped Diaz. Your odds will dramatically improve should you bet on Edwards to do this +120. If you fancy Diaz to score the upsets he’s priced at +400.

Demian Maia vs. Belal Muhammad

An interesting fight between two ranked 170lb fighters takes place on the UFC 263 main card. BJJ wizard turned MMA title challenger, Demian Maia takes on streaking contender, Belal Muhammad. We are big fans of the Brazilian but cannot back him heading into this one. At 43-years-olds he’s almost certainly past his best and is rightfully the +188 underdog. Muhammad -225 favourite and the man we’ll be adding to our parlay this weekend.

Paul Craig vs. Jamahal Hill

Opening up the UFC main card we have a really exciting fight between light-heavyweight fighters Paul Craig and Jamahal Hill. The Scottish submission specialist is an underdog at odds of +250 despite being on a four-fight unbeaten streak. That tells you that the undefeated Hill is one of the most exciting prospects in the 205lb division. Last time out he stopped Ovince St Preux in the biggest fight of his career. We are prediciting he’ll do the same thing again as a -330, although betting on the stoppage will improve your odds to -125

Jordan Ellis: This fight could really go either way. I can see Rob Font getting a huge KO victory. I can see the same for Cody Garbrandt. What I think will happen is the former champion will use his boxing skills to evade his opponents’ power and ultimately pick up a decision win via the judges.

Prediction: Cody Garbrandt

Ty Rosson: This fight is one that I have been looking forward to for a long time. I have been on the Garbrandt train since he made his debut in the UFC and really think when he has his head on straight, he is the best fighter at 135. On the other side, Font has really been putting it together in his last couple of fights. His KO of Moraes in his last fight was vicious and shows that he can hang with the big dogs of the division. In terms of this fight, there is just something in my bones that won’t let pick against Garbrandt. I really think that he has put that three fight skid behind him and came out a much smarter and calmer fighter because of it. I am going Garbrandt via third round KO.

Prediction: Cody Garbrandt

Alex Lough: I’ve been on the Rob Font hype-train since he debuted with a knockout of George Roop. Injuries have limited the number of times we’ve been able to see him but, fortunately, haven’t affected his performances in the octagon. As for Garbrandt, he showed in his last fight that he still has what it takes to compete at the top of the division, not get drawn into a fire fight, and that he still has a rocket launcher of a right hand. However, he didn’t really answer whether his chin can hold up. Assuncao is far from a knockout threat and wasn’t able to land anything of note before being stopped. Font can throw a wide variety of strikes and always looks to push the pace. I can guarantee he’ll be able to catch Garbrandt with something at some point, and I still question how Cody will hold up. It’s also worth noting that Garbrandt is coming off of COVID and has gone on record that it hit him pretty hard. The fact that we don’t know how much that will affect him combined with his still questionable chin means I have to pick against him. Font by KO

Prediction: Rob Font

Ross Markey: For me this type of fight between Rob Font and Cody Garbrandt has quite meaningful implications in regards to the title at bantamweight. Font is on the cusp with a victory, and former titleholder Garbrandt could very well sit out with a win tonight awaiting his tilt. On his day, I don’t think you’ll find a more dangerous bantamweight on the planet other than Garbrandt, and with an improved fight IQ and patience under the tutelage of Mark Henry, I’m picking him to eventually find a meaningful shot to stop Font by the second frame.

Prediction: Cody Garbrandt

Rob Font vs. Cody Garbrandt

The UFC Vegas 27 main event has war written all over it. Both of these guys are known throwing bombs. It really could go either way and this is evidenced by the fact bookmakers cannot separate Font and Garbrandt who are both priced at -110. We give the slight edge to Garbrandt who despite showing signs of vulnerability throughout his fight career has competed and won at a higher level consistently. If he’s able to avoid exchanging heavy shots, we believe ‘No Love’ will pick Font apart over five rounds. If you want to bet on this, you’ll find Garbrandt via decision/technical decision priced at +450. However, if he fails to keep his cool Garbradnt will get knocked out. The odds of the stoppage win for Font are +150.

Justin Tafa vs. Jared Vanderaa

We really like Justin Tafa in this heavyweight match-up and apparently, so do the oddsmakers who fancy him the -175 favourite. Tafa looked good last time out and was unlucky to come away with a loss via split decision. At just 27-years-old we feel the best is yet to come from Tafa and will be betting on him to get the win over a very tough and game Vanderaa.

Felicia Spencer vs. Norma Dumont Viana

Felicia Spencer is the favourite at -163 but we think she should be at even smaller odds. The Canadian is clearly the best of the rest at featherweight and Viana hasn’t shown that she can mix it at this level. We expect Spencer to make it look relatively easy and get the stoppage win which will improve our odds to +240.

Jack Hermansson vs. Edmen Shahbzayan

We will be betting on the -160 favourite Hermansson to get the job done in this one. In our opinion, he is an even tougher test than the one Shahbazyan failed in his last fight – Derek Brunson. Hermansson has elite wrestling and a very trustworthy chin. He will probably grind out the middleweight prospect over three rounds for the decision win but don’t be surprised if he forces a stoppage.

In the UFC 262 main event, we will crown a new lightweight champion. Will it be Charles Oliveira or Michael Chandler? Let’s see who the LowKickMMA staff are picking.

Jordan Ellis: This is such a great fight. Finally, we’ll crown a new lightweight king at UFC 262. I know people don’t like the fact Michael Chandler is getting a title shot tonight but I think he might just win. I believe he can use the wrestling to bring down Charles Oliveira’s hands and go upstairs with big punches that could close the show.

Prediction: Michael Chandler

Maria Morales: It’s not often that I will admit to being a homer for a fighter, but Charles Oliveira is the real deal and who I believe will walk away “and new.” Oliveira has been on a tear since his lost to Paul Felder back in 2017. Mounting an impressive eight-fight win streak, Oliveira has got finishes both on the feet and on the ground. Chandler comes into this match up on a three-fight win streak with a masterful dismantling of Dan Hooker in his UFC debut. He’s incredibly dangerous and truly can get it with just one punch. That said, this fight should be immensely entertaining to watch, but in the end I believe that the combination Oliveira’s speed and reach advantages will be enough to get the job done.

Prediction: Charles Oliveira

Harry O’Connor: This is a really hard fight to call. You’re looking at a Michael Chandler who just decimated Dan Hooker, who was fighting off the back of a FOTY performance against Dustin Poirier (the same Poirier who knocked out McGregor.) And then you have Charles Oliveira who looks unbeatable at the moment, it’s really tough to call and I wish I had more of Chandler in the UFC to go off. I think we will be in for an electric fight, both fighters can mix it up on the feet and on the ground but I think Oliveira might opt to take the fight to the ground when he can and I think he might get a submission in the middle of the fight. I’m going to pick Charles Oliveira to win via submission in the third round.

Prediction: Charles Oliveira

Alex Lough: Charles Olivera’s run up the ladder fascinates me like nothing else in the sport. Here’s a guy who is fighting for a UFC title 27 fights into his organizational career. That’s a longer run than Bisping had before getting his title shot. The difference is Olivera seemed like a guy who had all the physical tools, but lacked the intangibles and things you supposedly couldn’t teach or learn. And then he learned them! I could go on for hours. As for the fight, I think ‘Do Bronx’ takes it. Chandler is at his best when he’s rushing in on his opponents with his wrestling or power shots; both those paths lead him to running into the buzzsaw that is Olivera. His striking in the clinch is sick, and his ground game unmatched. Iron Mike’s best chance at winning is to land a counter punch, which could happen, but only if Olivera makes a mistake. Do Bronx has a big reach advantage which he should be able to use to pick Chandler apart from the outside early. Once he’s done a couple rounds, Chandler will get desperate and rush in with something and Olivera will capitalize. Olivera by sub in the 3rd.

Jordan Ellis: This is a great main event. A true 50-50 fight. It’s one I don’t really have a clue on but I’m going to stump for Ji?í Procházka. I was truly impressed by his UFC debut. To take shots from someone like Volkan Oezdemir before putting him to sleep is elite level stuff. On the flip side Dominick Reyes looked way off the pace in his last bout. It’s hard to see a clear route to victory for the former title challenger at UFC Vegas 25.

Prediction: Ji?í Procházka

Curtis Calhoun: Reyes gets it done by unanimous decision. It’ll be a grind against the always unpredictable Prochazka, but Reyes will survive an early onslaught and dominate on the feet for the rest of the fight. This more calm, more humble Reyes definitely scares me. I’m convinced he doesn’t want to be known as solely the guy who almost beat Jon Jones. Reyes will establish his low kicks early to establish the range against Prochazka and this will force him to back off, and give Reyes the advantage in the exchanges. Jiri is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the light heavyweight division, but I’m convinced that Reyes is starving for another shot at the belt. Should be a great fight.

Prediction: Dominick Reyes

Ty Rosson: Prochazka is one of my favorite fighters that made their UFC debut last year. He really is a one of one kind of fighter and type of person. I always enjoy people who are outside of the box and he certainly fits that. Reyes is coming off the first knockout loss of his career, which can lead some guys to become much more cautious in their striking approaches. I think Prochazka will be just too unorthodox for Reyes to figure out. Prochazka gets the win via 2nd round KO.

Prediction: Ji?í Procházka

Ross Markey: Former Rizin FF champion, Jiri Prochakza certainly impressed me with the majority of his performance in his promotional bow against Volkan Oezdemir, however, whether it was just a confidence issue or whatever it may have been, his tendency to plod into range and rely heavily on his head movement prior to his finish over the Swiss striker, can’t be expressed as flippantly against Dominick Reyes. It’s two consecutive losses for two-time title challenger, Reyes, the second of which against Jan Blachowicz was particularly damaging. Prochazka certainly has the ability to make massive waves at 205lbs, however, tonight’s pairing with Reyes is quite a sizeable hurdle to overcome. The Czech Republic native is rather unconventional in his approach to striking and especially in his movement, and if he can use that as effectively against Reyes tonight as he did with Oezdemir, he’ll eventually find his target. Jiri Prochazka via second round knockout.

Jordan Ellis: It’s hard to back against Kamaru Usman in this fight. He is already one of the best welterweight fighters of all time and dominated Masvidal just last year. For me, this rematch is not “super necessary”. I expect Usman will put on an even more dominant display than we saw at UFC 251. The question is will be able to stop the always tough ‘Gamebred’?

Prediction: Kamaru Usman

Alex Lough: Six days, six weeks, six months. No matter how long of a training camp Masvidal gets, I see this fight going the same way. I guess there’s a thought that because Usman’s striking looked improved in his last fight against Burns that there’s a chance he could test it out against Masvidal and get caught. Let me tell you right now: the odds of Usman going that route are nil. He knows exactly what path he has to go down to get his hand raised at the end of the night, and he’s far too intelligent of a fighter to diverge even slightly from it. It’s not like their first fight was the first time Masvidal has struggled against a grappler. Demian Maia, Benson Henderson and Rustam Khalibov were all able to find success against him. Look for Usman to grind against the fence and work for takedowns. The more frustrated Masvidal gets, the easy the takedowns will come. And still.

Prediction: Kamaru Usman

Frank Bonada: To be honest I see this one playing out in similar fashion to the first fight. If Usman uses his wrestling he can completely shut out Masvidals game. The only concern is if Usman gets drawn into the striking exchanges. Masvidal has proven time and time again how lethal his hands are. But Usman should be able to dominate the fight if he clinches up or brings the fight to the mat.
Usman to win via decision.

Prediction: Kamaru Usman

Ross Markey: Sometimes in MMA you simply run into an opponent which is likely to have your number each time you share a contest with them, and I appears to me, that Kamaru Usman has the tools to suppress and mitigate the striking expertise of Jorge Masvidal once again. Last July — granted, on six day’s notice, Masvidal dropped a one-sided unanimous decision loss to the incumbent, and the narrative immediately laid out was his calls for a significant training camp. The rematch has come together all too quickly yet again between Usman and Masvidal, and while Gilbert Burns managed to pose some early questions to Usman in the form of an overhand right, I expect the Auchi native to tighten everything up once again against Masvidal. Count out the Floridian and it may be the rock you perish on, but Usman has that fight altering attribute to his game; his wrestling. Kamaru Usman via decision.

Prediction: Kamaru Usman
