While many were angered by the doctor’s decision to end the BMF title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz last night, in reality, it was justified.

Masvidal and Diaz collided for three rounds that saw the former dominate much of the proceedings. “Gamebred” not only opened cuts on a bloodied Diaz, but dropped him twice and was on top in virtually every department.

Just before the start of the fourth round, the doctor called an end to the fight due to a cut near Diaz’s eye with Masvidal being awarded the TKO (doctor stoppage) victory. The crowd immediately booed while UFC president Dana White was also initially angered by the decision.

However, White later changed his mind as he believed it was justified. He would later share an image of Diaz’s eye which required multiple stitches right above it. In addition, his cut below his eye was also stitched up:

“These cuts were much worse then they looked on TV. Respect to @natediaz209 for pushing the Dr to continue,” White wrote.

While it’s easy to want more action, safety should always be paramount.

Do you think the stoppage was justified? Or do you still think it should have gone on?

It didn’t take long for Conor McGregor to react to Jorge Masvidal’s UFC 244 win and subsequent comments.

Masvidal dominated Nate Diaz en route to a controversial third-round TKO doctor stoppage victory in the headliner on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, New York. While some have called for a rematch, others believe Masvidal should fight for the title next or even better — McGregor.

The idea of a McGregor vs. Masvidal fight has been there for a while, however, UFC president Dana White was not receptive to it as he said the latter was too big. “Gamebred” would take that further saying he would have a murder charge if he fought the Irishman and that he’s too much man for him.

He repeated those sentiments yesterday at the post-fight press conference:

“You know what the f*ck I’ll do to that little dude,” Masvidal said. “I’ll f*ck that little guy up. He’s a f*cking midget. Dana White, president of this motherf*cking company said I’m too much man for him. I get it why people want to see him hurt for the stunts he’s been pulling. But he don’t want this shit.

“He’s just talking so he gets his name out there. He was cheering for Nate. … You see he punches old people in the face because those are fights he could win. He don’t want this sh*t. … You can’t get that dude to sign the paper.”

And McGregor would respond with a jab on social media on Sunday:

“Hey @BurgerKing, could I get a 3 piece with soda and a side chicken box please? Loads of salt and vinegar. Thanks,” McGregor tweeted referencing Masvidal’s three piece and a soda comment.

Maybe if there’s enough interest, fans may convince White and get to see them throw down at some point.

Do you want to see these two fight next?

Corey Anderson made a statement at UFC 244 on Saturday night — and his emotions got the best of him afterward.

Anderson faced Johnny Walker as a big underdog going into their light heavyweight contest. However, he would upset the odds by defeating the Brazilian prospect in a first-round TKO victory.

He would verbally unload on Walker after the finish and later apologized for his actions citing that he was emotional because of the buildup to the fight. “Overtime” felt that he was being set up to lose by the UFC and had expressed frustration that he wasn’t given a title shot because he didn’t move the needle.

To that, White responded in the post-fight press conference:

“So he came in here very angry this week,” White said (via MMA Fighting). “All these conspiracy theories, we hate him, we this, that and everything else, all this crybaby bullsh*t. We’re trying to get him beat. We can’t get you beat. You can either win or you can’t. We like Walker better or whatever the stuff he was saying.

“No, some guys move faster than others, you’re telling us what you deserve. Show us what you deserve. Tonight you showed us. Got it. Message received. Now we know.”

White also pointed to how Walker received a bigger ovation than Anderson during the Friday weigh-ins:

“You guys were there, were you not at the weigh-ins? Not one person clapped for him at the weigh-ins,” White added. “Walker got a pretty big pop when he came out. I’ll bet people will notice him next time, won’t they?

“You came out and you showed everybody. You did something. Now we’ll move on.”

Anderson Title Shot?

Following the fight, Anderson demanded a shot at Jon Jones. He also told the UFC to release him from his contract if they weren’t willing to give him one.

White wouldn’t guarantee one yet, but advised Anderson to go along with what the UFC offers him:

“I’m not saying you’re getting a title shot next or whatever,” White explained. “[Dominick] Reyes won, too, impressively. We’ll figure out what’s next for you and when your contract is up, if you still don’t want to be here, you can do whatever you want to do. In the mean time, take the fights that we offer you. Pretty simple.

“We’re not trying to get you beat. We’re not trying to get anybody beat. If you think you deserve a shot at the title, how am I going to get you beat with the No. 11 or 14th-ranked guy in the world or whatever he was tonight, if you deserve a title shot?”

Do you agree with White?
