UFC 237 took place live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

On the event’s preliminary card on ESPN, Warlley Alves shook things up with a huge knockout win. He finished Sergio Moraes in the third round with a massive uppercut. It was his first victory in nearly a year. With the finish, Alves takes home a $50,000 Performance Of The Night bonus.

In the main event of the night, Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade stole the show. Namajunas put on a masterful striking performance in the first round, busting Andrade open early. In the second round, Namajunas did much of the same, before Andrade went in on a takedown. “Thug” attempted to defend the takedown with a kimura, however, it ended up backfiring.

Namajunas was dumped right on her head, and was rendered unconscious immediately. Andrade was awarded the second-round knockout win, and the UFC women’s strawweight title. Both women will take home a $50,000 Fight Of The Night bonus for their main event. However, Andrade will take home an additional $50,000 for Performance Of The Night.

Main eventing UFC 237 on pay-per-view (PPV) last night (Sat. May 11, 2019) was a women’s strawweight title fight. “Thug” Rose Namajunas defended her title against Jessica Andrade.

Namajunas showed some masterful work on the feet in the opening round, and most of the second round. However, it was a takedown attempt from Andrade that would change everything. Namajunas attempted to defend the takedown with a kimura lock, as she had done successfully in the first round, but things played out much different.

The champion was slammed on her head and rendered unconscious by the slam. Andrade was declared the winner and new UFC women’s strawweight champion by way of second-round knockout. Check out how the mixed martial arts (MMA) community reacted to the finish here:

In the co-main event of last night’s (Sat. May 11, 2019) UFC 237 pay-per-view (PPV), former UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva returned against Jarred Cannonier.

Silva and Cannonier had a feeling out process to open the round, but both men began to get some solid offense off in the second half of the round. However, with seconds left, Cannonier landed a leg kick that dropped Silva to the canvas.

The Brazilian was in a noticeable amount of pain, and Cannonier jumped on him for some ground-and-pound, but the referee didn’t let things get that far. Cannonier was officially awarded a first-round TKO victory. Silva noted in his post-fight interview that his knee was hurting him during camp as well.

Anderson Silva gave mixed martial arts (MMA) fans a scare tonight (Sat. May 11, 2019) at the UFC 237 pay-per-view (PPV) from Brazil. Silva took on Jarred Cannonier in the co-main event of the evening.

Silva and Cannonier were exchanging in the closing seconds of the round, when Cannonier landed a hard leg kick. Silva crumbled over in a good amount of pain, yelling. The referee stepped in to call the action off.

Luckily, the injury doesn’t seem to be as bad as Silva’s injury against Chris Weidman back in 2013. Check it out here:

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo returned to the Octagon last night (Sat. May 11, 2019) from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He took on rising 145-pound star Alexander Volkanovski.

Volkanovski showed tremendous skill inside the Octagon against, arguably, the greatest featherweight of all time. After three rounds of fighting, Volkanovski seemingly out-classed the Brazilian legend for 15 minutes. When it was all said and done, he was awarded the unanimous decision victory.
