Instead of meeting on the main card of the colossal UFC 202 card in August, Carlos Condit and Demian Maia will headline UFC on FOX 21 in their scheduled welterweight contest.

The pair where originally set to meet at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on the main card headlined by the highly-anticipated rematch between rivals Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, but will instead get a featured spot of their own at the UFC on FOX 21 card in Vancouver just seven days later from their original date.

Condit (30-9) comes off of one of the best welterweight title bouts in recent memory, after his five round war with Robbie Lawler for the 170-pound crown at UFC 195 this past January.

While the back-and-forth bout was a tremendous showing of skill by both men, Lawler would ultimately get the split decision nod and successfully defend his title for the second consecutive time.

Maia (23-6) has been on an impressive tear in the 170-pound weight class, as he is currently riding a massively impressive five-fight win streak over the likes of the formerly undefeated Ryan LaFlare, Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson, and most recently Matt Brown.

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu stud has been lobbying for a title shot for quite some time now, and with a win over former interim welterweight champion Condit, he might just get it.

UFC on FOX 21 takes place live from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on August 27, 2016.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor doesn’t do all of his fighting inside the Octagon.

Now the brash Irishman finds himself trying to save his image rights and likenesses, as he has registered two more trademarks such as ‘The Mac Life’ and ‘The Notorious’; while a barber in Ireland is filing for the trademark ‘Notorious 13’ in reference to McGregor’s 13-second knockout of former featherweight king Jose Aldo.

TheTimes.co.uk first reported:

“McGregor, whose fighting nickname is the Notorious, applied on July 7 to register a series of trademarks in Ireland, including his name, and the phrases “the Mac Life” and “the Notorious”.

Earlier this year the Grafton Barber, a company with 28 barber shops, applied to trademark “Notorious 13″, a reference to McGregor’s 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo.”

McGregor is currently set to meet Stockton Native Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 202 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20, 2016.

The 145-pound champ also already has an interim champion waiting to welcome him back to the division once he finishes up his welterweight tenure with Diaz in McGregor’s old friend Jose Aldo, who just took home the interim strap in a five-round war with former 155-pound champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 200.

McGregor and Aldo are expected to meet inside the Octagon once again in order to unify the two titles sometime in the near future.

Bantamweights Marlon Vera and Ning Guangyou have been added to UFC 202, the promotion announced recently.

Vera (7-3-1), a 23-year-old who has gone 1-2 over his Octagon career, is coming off a decision loss to Davey Grant this past February. His win with the UFC came last August when he submitted Roman Salazar after a loss in 2014 to Marco Beltran.

Guangyou (5-3-1) is 11 years the elder of Vera and has posted a 2-1 UFC mark. He was bested by Beltran via split decision last November, snapping a three-fight win streak overall.

UFC 202 takes place August 20 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and features the rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor took home yet another award to display in his trophy case, when he was voted Best Fighter at the 2016 ESPY awards this week.

McGregor took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the award, and while he is preparing for a rematch with Nate Diaz later next month, the Irishman claims he is also sharpening his tools to take out everyone who has spoke ill of him since his defeat in March:

“It is an honour to take ‘Best Fighter’ at the prestigious ESPY awards! I am deep in preparation to come and take out everyone that has spoke my name in vain. I will get you all.”

McGregor (19-3), as previously mentioned, is looking to rebound after his upset loss to the longtime UFC veteran Diaz at UFC 196, when the Irishman was caught with a 1-2 combo from the Gracie jiu-jitsu black belt flush on the chin and was subsequently choked out after a poor takedown attempt.

‘Notorious’ has brought in a variety of professional boxing and world jiu-jitsu champions in preparation for Diaz’s well-rounded skill set, and will collide with his brash rival once again in the main event of UFC 202 in Vegas next month.

Some unfinished business at the Irishman’s championship weight class of 145 pounds still lingers as well, as former featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo once again holds gold in the division and is certainly next in line to get the next crack at ‘The Notorious One’.

McGregor’s last appearance at 145 pounds was in impressive one to say the least, as he ended Aldo’s decade of dominance in a staggering 13-seconds with a perfectly placed counter-left hand to shut the Brazilian’s lights out for the first time in his storied career.

Aldo McGregor 1It should be interesting to see how McGregor performs following his first loss under the UFC banner, as he seems to be preparing for his upcoming welterweight contest with Diaz in a rather obsessive fashion.

Diaz and McGregor will meet in the headliner of UFC 202 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20, 2016.
