The first ever and only two-time UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz made a successful return to the octagon this past January 17. Facing the champ of the time TJ Dillashaw after only fighting once in five years, following a string of harrowing and career threatening injuries, ‘The Dominator’ completed his fairy tale comeback with a split decision win over ‘The Viper.’ Now set to face his old rival Urijah Faber in the rubber match at UFC 199, Cruz is once again embroiled in a feud with a member of Team Alpha Male.

First off it was Dillashaw who got the verbal bashing from Cruz, although that started back in 2014 when he was still a member of TAM. Now having left, it’s Faber who represents the California based fight squad, but ‘The Viper’ is never far from the conversation.

During a recent appearance on ‘The Herd,’ Faber pretty much accused his former team mate Dillashaw and Cruz of taking PED’s (performance enhancing drugs). Cruz shot him down during that interview, but the comments made by ‘The California Kid’ have not really been fully addressed. Not until now, that is.

Speaking during the most recent episode of The MMA Hour, Cruz tackles the subject of his beef with Faber, and also reacts to those accusations of steroid use levelled at him and Dillashaw.

“This is the thing, you can say whatever you need to say about me, I understand, all is fair in love and war. Like, I get that he is going to come and attack me. I get that he wants to attack my character. He’s been doing this to me since 2007. This is the Faber game. He wants to turn everybody against you and make himself the good guy. He can’t handle being the not liked guy.

“But, at the same time, this is all based off of fear. Judgment is the main act of fear. If I’m on [PEDs], what, is everybody on it? Everybody he’s lost to? This is his excuse. He’s setting up excuses for the loss that I’m about to serve him.”

Despite the chaos currently inhabiting the UFC’s featherweight division, the promotion has added an intriguing 145-pound scrap to June 4’s UFC 199 from the L.A. Forum in Inglewood, California.

Per UFC Tonight, No. 4-ranked Max “Blessed” Holloway will clash with former title challenger and No. 5-ranked Ricardo “The Bully” Lamas.

Since dropping a decision loss to reigning champion Conor McGregor in 2013, 24 year old Holloway has gone on a tear, winning eight straight bouts with six of those victories coming by way of finish.

That streak includes an impressive finish over former top contender Cub Swanson, and most recently a decision victory over Jeremy Stephens at last December’s UFC 194.

Lamas, on the other hand, received a shot at former champion Jose Aldo back in 2014, losing a rather lack luster decision. Since then, however, “The Bully” has won three of four, most recently taking a unanimous decision over veteran Diego Sanchez last November.

It was also confirmed that a previously targeted middleweight showdown between legend Dan “Hendo” Henderson and Hector Lombard will take place on the card.

Henderson was scheduled to rematch Lyoto Machida last weekend at UFC on FOX 19, but “The Dragon” was scrapped from the bout after it was revealed that he had consumed a banned substance.

Lombard will be making his return to 185 pounds after recently dropping a disappointing loss to Neil Magny.

UFC 199 is set to be headlined by a middleweight title rematch between defending champion Luke Rockhold and former divisional kingpin Chris Weidman.

Also on the card, Dominick Cruz will put his 135 pound strap on the line in a trilogy bout against bitter rival and former WEC champion Urijah Faber.

Now it all makes sense.

When Dominick Cruz seemed overly bothered by the “back fat” comments from his upcoming UFC 199 opponent Urijah Faber, it was apparently a PED-implication being made by “The California Kid.”

Now it all makes sense.

When Dominick Cruz seemed overly bothered by the “back fat” comments from his upcoming UFC 199 opponent Urijah Faber, it was apparently a PED-implication being made by “The California Kid.”

Faber spoke about his “back fat comment” during a recent appearance on Submission Radio.

“I’ll tell you what has happened. I’ve seen a drastic change in his body from the very first time that I fought him, to a year later when he fought, when he took the whole year off and came back all ripped. Then he looked pretty good two years ago when he made his long-awaited return, physically. And then all of a sudden he’s got floppy boobs and back fat. I mean, there’s no secret what’s going on there – and I know he knows it.”

Faber battles Cruz for the UFC Bantamweight Championship in a trilogy bout in the co-main event of UFC 199, which takes place on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from The Forum in Inglewood, California.

The main event at UFC 199 will see Luke Rockhold defend the UFC Middleweight Championship against former champion Chris Weidman in an immediate rematch. Also on the card is the return of BJ Penn, who will be fighting Dennis Siver, and MMA legend Dan Henderson, who will be battling Hector Lombard.
