Following the finale of The Ultimate Fighter season 14, the UFC handed out $40,000 bonuses for its “of the Night” performances.

The night’s big winner was Brazilian featherweight Diego Brandao.  The Greg Jackson-trained, Team Bisping fighter took home the Submission of the Night award for his armbar finish of Team Miller’s Dennis Bermudez.  The back-and-forth battle earned the two fighters Fight of the Night honors.  The double bonus earned Brandao a total of $80,000 in addition to his salary for the bout.  With the win, Brandao earned a six-figure contract with the promotion.

Knockout of the Night went to bantamweight John Dodson for his first-round finish of T.J. Dillishaw.  The Team Miller (and Greg Jackson) product needed less than two minutes to finish the fight and take home the 135-pound crown.  Like his Jackson teammate Brandao, the win netted Dodson the coveted six-figure contract.  However, his additional bonus was only half of his teammates.

The night’s main event between coaches Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller did not impress, even drawing a tweet from UFC President Dana White proclaiming it one of the most one-sided fights he had ever seen.

TUF 14 Results: What We Learned from Michael Bisping vs. Jason Miller

Michael Bisping has just come out victorious in one of the most anticipated fights of the year, defeating Jason Miller via third-round TKO.

The two men coached opposite each other on The Ultimate Fighter 14 and built up a lot of bad blood over the course of the season.

Tonight, Bisping and Miller squashed their rivalry, while putting on a great show for the fans.

Miller came out too aggressive in the early goings of the fight and gassed himself, which Bisping was able to capitalize on, pounding out an exhausted Miller in the third.

After the fight, both competitors were highly complimentary of each other’s performances.

What we’ll remember about this fight

Miller mocking Bisping by taking a knee.

In Bisping’s last fight, he won a highly controversial TKO victory after hitting his opponent, Jorge Rivera, with an illegal knee.

During this evening’s fight, Miller found himself on his knees and practically begged Bisping to throw another ilegal knee at him—likely an attempt to get in Bisping’s head.

It was an entertaining moment and Bisping—shockingly— indulged Miller’s taunts by throwing a high kick at the downed opponent.

The kick missed, but had it landed, it would have been an illegal blow and Bisping could have been disqualified.

What we learned about Jason Miller

He could be successful in the UFC’s middleweight division, but he needs to work on his cardio—big time.

Whether or not Miller gassed tonight because of nerves or overexerting himself cannot be known for sure, but either way, he was gassed by the second round, which is not a good sign.

If Miller could have kept the pace he set in Round 1, he likely would have won this fight.

What we learned about Michael Bisping

When he wants to be, Bisping is a classy guy.

As a fighter, we didn’t see anything from Bisping tonight that we hadn’t seen before, but after the fight, he was unusually complimentary of his opponent.

Bisping gets a bad rap from most fans—not for no reason—but tonight, he was a gentleman after the fight was over, and that was nice to see.

What’s next for Jason Miller

I expect the UFC will keep Miller around because of his enormous popularity with the fans.

Look for the UFC to set Miller up with a mid-level fighter with some name recognition next.

Dan Miller, Cung Le or Tim Boetsch are all possibilities.

What’s next for Michael Bisping

Many suspected that Bisping would face Chael Sonnen next with a win tonight, but it was recently announced that Sonnen would face Mark Munoz instead.

The winner of Vitor Belfort vs. Anthony Johnson would make sense for Bisping’s next fight.

For the first time since the fifth season of the show, coaches of The Ultimate Fighter met at the show’s Finale.  Middleweights Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller headlined the card.

Bisping, a former TUF winner himself, looked to step toward a title shot and score his fourth straight victory.

The fight marked the UFC return of Miller.  Since dropping a fight to current welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre at UFC 52, Miller has fought all over the globe, most recently with Strikeforce and DREAM.

Miller opened with a kick and followed with a flurry.  Bisping initiated the clinch against the cage.  Miller moved to the Muay Thai clinch, but Bisping pushed away.  A right hand from Miller just missed the mark.  A second right hand landed.  Miller used a short left hand to setup a takedown.  Miller worked to mount Bisping along the cage.  Bisping tried to just tie up Miller.  Miller connected with punches from the top.  Bisping scrambled to his feet.  Miller connected with an outside leg kick.  A right hand from Bisping landed, but Miller answered with a hook as the round ended.

The pair exchanged to start the second round.  Miller’s takedown attempt was stuffed by Bisping.  Blood poured from the nose of Miller.  Miller worked hard for a single leg takedown against the fence.  Bisping reversed the position.  A head kick attempt from Bisping was blocked.  The fighters clipped heads and forced a brief stop to the action.  Miller ducked under a right hand to shoot, but Bisping moved away.  Bisping landed a knee to the body.  Bisping threw an illegal head kick toward Miller’s head while he was on the mat, but it failed to connect.  Bisping teed off on Miller along the cage.  Bisping unloaded with knees and strikes to the body.  Bisping ended the round dropping punches from the top at the end of the round.

Miller barreled forward to start the third frame.  Miller tried for a takedown, but Bisping pushed him away again.  Bisping backed Miller against the cage and scored with a series of punches.  Bisping proclaimed he was poked in the eye and the fight again was paused.  Miller shot for a single leg and Bisping sprawled.  Bisping moved to Miller’s back and delivered punches and knees.  Miller rolled for a leg lock, but Bisping escaped and moved into the guard.  Bisping rained punches from top.  Miller covered up and Steve Mazzagatti moved in to stop the bout.

Both fighters were exhausted at the end of the fight.  “I feel like Jason and I put on a great season of The Ultimate Fighter and I’m here to entertain,” Bisping stated.  When Joe Rogan proposed a fight with champion Anderson Silva, Bisping was quick to recognize that his performance wouldn’t have cut it against the Brazilian.

Miller was apologetic for getting tired in the fight, but praised his opponent.

Official Result: Michael Bisping def. Jason “Mayhem” Miller by TKO (punches and knees). Round 3, 3:34

During the live finale of the fourteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, the promotion announced winners of $25,000 bonuses for Fight of the Season, KO of the Season, and Submission of the Season.  Each award was voted on by fans over the internet.  It was the first time in the show’s history that these awards were given out by the UFC.

Taking home the Fight of the Season award was a back-and-forth battle between bantamweights Dustin Pague and Louis Gaudinot.  The pair fought into the second round with Team Miller’s Pague eventually submitting the Team Bisping product Gaudinot with a rear-naked choke.

The season’s KO of the Season honors were given to bantamweight finalist John Dodson for his second-round knockout of teammate Johnny Bedford.  The smaller fighter connected with an uppercut that sent Bedford crashing to the canvas, earning him a ticket to the final.

Finally, the Submission of the Season was handed to featherweight finalist Dennis Bermudez.  The former NCAA wrestler locked on a deep guillotine choke in the first round of his fight with Swedish-based striker Akira Corassani.  The win put Bermudez in the featherweight final.

Opening the Spike TV portion of the card was a bantamweight bout between Johnny Bedford and Louis Gaudinot.

Bedford made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out by John Dodson.  The fighter has competed in Bellator and defeated WEC vet Frank Gomez in his last bout before making the show.

Gaudinot was submitted by Dustin Pague in the quarterfinals of the show.  The New York-based fighter has amassed a 5-1 record, all under the Ring of Combat banner.

Bedford delivered a kick to start the fight.  Gaudinot looked to answer but Bedford secured a takedown and landed in the top position against the cage.  Bedford connected with a knee to Gaudinot’s head as he returned to his feet.  Beford looked for a trip, but Gaudinot managed to stay standing.  Bedford tossed Gaudinot to the ground and effortlessly moved to mount.  Bedford rained punches and forced Gaudinot to cover up.  Bedford looked to attack an arm and forced Gaudinot to roll to his stomach.  Bedford secured both hooks and tried to flatten him out along the fence.  Gaudinot escaped and recovered his half guard.  Bedford continued to drop punches from the top.  Bedford finished the round delivering knees to Gaudinot’s body.

Gaudinot pressed forward to open the second stanza.  Bedford moved inside and landed more knees.  Bedford scored with a takedown.  Gaudinot stood momentarily but Bedford put him on his back yet again.  Working from the half guard, Bedford hammered the body of Gaudinot.  Gaudinot recovered his full guard, but Bedford used his size to move to mount.  Gaudinot again got his guard, but took a number of punches in doing so.  Bedford moved to north-south and then to mount.  Bedford fired away with punches and elbows.  Bedford attacked the right arm of Gaudinot, who survived to the bell.

Bedford scored with kicks in the final frame.  Gaudinot still tried to attack, but Bedford just picked him apart with shots to the body.  A big knee from Bedford sent Gaudinot to the canvas.  Bedford unloaded with knees, kicks, and punches, ultimately forcing Steve Mazzagatti to step in to wave off the fight.

Speaking with Joe Rogan, Bedford was ecstatic with his win.  He expressed a desire for another shot at John Dodson, who defeated him on the reality show.

Official Result: Johnny Bedford def. Louis Gaudinot by TKO (knees and punches). Round 3, 1:58
