Jason Knight picked up a big victory at Bare-Knuckle FC 9 over the weekend when he finished Artem Lobov in the final round of their main event.

The fight was a rematch from their first fight in April of last year, which Lobov won via decision. After the fight ended, there were several discussions as to what could happen next. BKFC brought Knight’s former UFC foe, Jim Alers, into the ring to tease a fight. Both Lobov and Knight also expressed interest in a trilogy.

However, Knight then took to social media to call out former Lobov opponent and ex-boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi. Here’s what Knight had to say.

@paulmalignaggi I know u don’t want to fight BKFC again but what would u say to a boxing fight ?? I have no prior pro boxing matches but I bet I can school you at your own game!!”

Malignaggi then responded in the comments section of Knight’s Instagram post, saying he’s down to box Knight in a traditional boxing match with gloves. His history of hand injuries is too severe to compete in bare-knuckle again. He also noted the money would have to be worth the fight

“Well done Jason, solid adjustments Saturday night. I have not yet seen the fight but saw higlights and your sense of timing and disciplined game plan was very impressive to notice. You def caught onto a few tactics from my fight and fought smarter. I wish my hands could survive the impact again cause truthfully I enjoyed the experience and wouldn’t have minded facing you after your display.

“However I have a career history of hand problems and I cannot keep risking them or I’m gonna wind up with permanent damage to them. If there are interested parties that are willing to put up enough money I am not against regular boxing though where some protection for my hands is there.

“Maybe David can do a card where you and I glove up but instead of a ring we can fight in the bkfc squared circle with our undercard consisting of bare knuckle fights. Again its dependant on the compensation. After all, we are prizefighters. Once again though, well done and congrats on an impressive display.”

Knight then responded with the following.

“thanks brother, I’d love to make this happen… and it’s not a disrespect thing either, I’d just like the test against a real boxer and see where I stand skill wise”

Malignaggi then had this to say:

“no disrespect taken at all. You are a competitor and I respect that. If someone compensates us well for the fight I can def consider it and we can go from there. This forum is public so people can see the interest in making this possibility a reality is there from us both. I have also given a possible way we can do it with bkfc still promoting it if they have this interest”

What do you make of Malignaggi’s conditions to box Knight? Do you think a fight will materialize?

Jason Knight is looking to capitalize on his TKO win over Artem Lobov over the weekend.

Knight finished Lobov in the fifth round of their Bare-Knuckle FC 9 main event. Taking to social media, Knight decided to shoot his shot at call out former boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi. Malignaggi previously fought for BKFC in a highly-anticipated main event against Artem Lobov, which Lobov won via decision.

Since, Malignaggi has claimed his BKFC career is over, but Knight took to social media to challenge him to a pro boxing fight instead.

@paulmalignaggi I know u don’t want to fight BKFC again but what would u say to a boxing fight ?? I have no prior pro boxing matches but I bet I can school you at your own game!!”

However, after his win over Lobov, Knight’s former UFC opponent, Jim Alers was brought into the ring to seemingly set up a fight between the pair inside the BKFC ring. A trilogy bout between Lobov and Knight is also possible, as both men verbally agreed to it in their post-fight speeches. It will be interesting to see what Knight decides to do following his big win over Lobov.

What do you think about a pro boxing fight between Knight and Malignaggi?

There’s always a possibility that Conor McGregor returns to boxing one day. However, Paulie Malignaggi thinks it would be hard for him to get a single win.

McGregor, of course, boxed Floyd Mayweather back in 2017 and would lose via 10th-round TKO. Since then, there has been talk of the Irishman returning to the sport, particularly because of how lucrative it is.

Malignaggi has been cited as a potential opponent, especially with his beef with McGregor over their sparring session leaks. For now, though, McGregor seems focused on competing in the UFC.

But it wouldn’t be surprising if a promoter like Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn were to sign McGregor up for a boxing comeback. Malignaggi certainly agrees, but believes it would be hard to find anyone the former two-weight UFC champion could beat in the sweet science:

“Eddie is a real genius businessman, a really smart businessman,” Malignaggi said in a recent interview with iFL TV (via BJ Penn). “So if he’s got an ace up his sleeve I wouldn’t be surprised. I just don’t think Conor McGregor can box.

“You’d probably have to get him the guy that sold me these nuts [to fight]. Or the guy who sold me this water, or this juice. That’s a few wins right there. He can’t fight, he’s not a boxer.”

Despite losing to McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov in bareknuckle action, Malignaggi is confident of outclassing his long-term rival in a boxing ring. However, he doesn’t think it’s a realistic possibility:

“I’ll fight him with one hand, bro,” he added. “I just beat up his boy with one hand. You don’t want that fight. We could do it, but I don’t really think it’s a realistic possibility.”

What do you make of Malignaggi’s comments?

Artem Lobov is a prizefighter. “The Russian Hammer” wants to challenge himself in all aspects of combat sports and make money while doing it.

This past summer, Lobov continued his bare-knuckle boxing career with BKFC, defeating former WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi via decision. It was a massive win for Lobov, who now has the itch to step into the actual professional boxing ring and make his debut. Given Malignaggi felt robbed in their first fight, Lobov tells LowKickMMA he’d love to give Malignaggi the rematch inside the professional boxing ring.

In fact, he wouldn’t mind doing it on the DAZN card headlined by YouTube stars Logan Paul and KSI, who are making their own professional boxing debuts in the main event.

“You know, I’m a prizefighter,” Lobov said. “I go where the opportunities are. Whatever pays more, that’s where I fight. So, you never know. I still might make my way back into the UFC, who knows what the future holds. I don’t really know as of yet. For now, I really want to move into professional boxing. I love to fight in a pro boxing ring. Maybe Paulie Malignaggi, you know, he said he thought he was robbed or whatever.

“I’d be happy to give him a rematch in the boxing ring if he wants to. Maybe we could even do it on the – what’s that? Logan Paul or whatever, KSI card. I’ve seen a few fights announced for that already. I’d have no problem fighting on that. I feel a fight like me and Paulie would make that card more legit. Because now, some people hear that going – they’re not taking it very serious, they’re saying it’s more of a gimmick, or just a show.

“But I think if you put some really good fights on the card it could be a huge success because it has a lot of eyes on it already. So why not show those people that will be watching anyway, why not show them a real fight? Earn a couple of new fans. I’d definitely do that.”

The KSI-Logan Paul card has received quite a bit of backlash from the combat sports community. Many are upset that a fighter the caliber of Ben Saunders is fighting on the undercard of an event headlined by two YouTube stars making their pro boxing debuts. However, the way Lobov sees it, it’s an opportunity to make the sport more mainstream than it already is.

“I feel good about it,” Lobov said. “Why not? Once it gets the attention, that’s no problem. That’s all good. It helps to grow the sport, it helps to make the sport more mainstream than it is. So I see nothing negative of it. People will tune in, whoever doesn’t want to see their fight, they can turn it off.

“They can just watch the actual boxing fights, or if somebody is curious, they can watch the whole thing. Nobody is making or forcing anyone to watch anything. We’re giving people the option, there’s clearly a lot of interest, and you’ll see for yourself whatever you want to see.”
