UFC fighter turned BKFC brawler ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry returned to the squared circle on Saturday night gunning for his fifth-straight win in the KnuckleMania IV main event in Los Angeles.

Standing in his way was former BKFC middleweight champion Thiago Alves, making his first appearance with the promotion since his title-winning performance against Ulysses Diaz in 2021.

Perry came out looking to put pressure on Alves early. Offering up a few combinations up against the ropes, Alves attempted to counter, but that only momentarily backed up Perry. Resuming his pursuit, Perry threw a combination punctuated by a nasty left hook that caught Alves clean, sending the former UFC standout to the canvas.

Alves answered the referee’s count, but it was clear that Alves was not all there, prompting Dan Miragliotta to call for the stoppage at the one-minute mark of the opening round.

Official Result: Mike Perry def. Thiago Alves via TKO (left hook) at 1:00 of Round 1.

Mike Perry still hoping to fight Conor McGregor in the BFKC he likes to throw hands

Former UFC welterweight Mike Perry is hopeful of a future bare knuckle fight against Conor McGregor.

Since leaving the UFC following his loss to Daniel Rodriguez in 2021, Mike Perry has managed to carve out a successful, and well-paying, second half of his career. The 32-year-old is now 5-0 since leaving the promotion, and 4-0 since signing with the BKFC – a move which has proven to be his best so far.

Perry seems to have a flexible contract that allows him to take part in fights outside the BKFC and when he does compete under their banner pay him very handsomely.

His last three wins consist of Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez and Perry is currently booked to face Thiago Alves this Saturday. Perry’s star continues to grow and has proven to attract fighters to enter his world. 

MIke Perry confident of luring Conor McGregor to the BKFC

Perry even envisions a future fight against McGregor, who recently expressed his interest in fighting into his 40s and willingness to test the boxing waters. McGregor had also previously jumped in the ring following one of Perry’s fights for an intense face-off.

“I think it could be a possibility,” Perry told MMA Fighting. “When my manager shared it and [he was like], ‘This will happen,’ I was like, whoa, that’s cool.

“Look, Conor likes to throw hands. He’s a great boxer. Fought Floyd Mayweather. He got a front row seat to watch my show with Luke [Rockhold] and he gave me respect by coming into the ring and giving me some of his time there. I think it would be fun and incredible.”

In today’s age of combat sports, it;s now hard to rule out any fight from ever taking place, but McGregor ever taking this fight, particularly in bare knuckle is highly unlikely.

Mike Perry claims Darren Till turned down $2 million offer to fight him in BKFC: 'What's he doing?'

According to Mike Perry, former UFC standout Darren Till turned down seven figures to toe the line with him.

Since making the move from the Octagon to the squared circle in 2022, ‘Platinum’ went from a middling welterweight to a bonafide bare-knuckle star under the BKFC banner. In his relatively short time with the promotion, Perry has already faced a who’s who of combat sports stars including Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez.

Gearing up for a return to the ring in 2024, all signs pointed toward Perry finally throwing hands with longtime rival Darren Till. Both men have traded shots back and forth in interviews and over social media for the past few years, and with neither being bound to a restrictive UFC contract, their clash seemed inevitable.

According to BKFC president David Feldman, the promotion had met Till’s financial needs during negotiations, but ‘The Gorilla’ ultimately declined to sign on the dotted line.

“I heard he said no to over $2 million dollars,” Perry said on the latest episode of The MMA Hour. “Darren’s just yapping away over there.”

According to Perry, Till would prefer their fight to be a traditional boxing match rather than a bare-knuckle brawl, and seemingly no amount of money is going to change his mind.

“What’s he doing? What is he doing? I know they gave him a hell of an offer,” Perry said. “Respect that you don’t care about that type of offer and you want what you want. When you want what you want, that’s respectable. But that’s one thing about BKFC too — at the end of the day, screw the gloves. Test yourself for real. Up against the bone. Skin and bone, baby, that’s what’s in there. Test yourself.”

Mike Perry is open to a traditional boxing match with Darren till

Mike Perry hasn’t completely closed the door on a boxing match with Till once his scheduled scrap at KnuckleMania 4 is in the books, so long as it makes sense for him financially.

“A lot of guys say they wanna do it with boxing gloves or gloves of some kind,” he said. “Those fights will happen in the future. A big part of the [BKFC] contract is I can do other things as well, and if the right money, and it has to be right because I’m being paid very handsomely.”

On April 27, Perry will look to add another name to his hit list when he meets former BKFC champion Thiago Alves at the promotion’s fourth annual KnuckleMania event in Los Angeles.

Since making his promotional debut two years ago, ‘Platinum’ has dispatched a series of notable names, including recent UFC debutant Michael ‘Venom’ Page and a couple of former champions, Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Perry was asked who is at the top of his list of potential dream opponents under the BKFC banner. ‘Platinum’ didn’t hesitate to call out Jake Paul, but expressed doubt that ‘The Problem Child’ would have the testicular fortitude to toe the line with him on bare-knuckle boxing’s biggest stage.

“Yes, but he’s not doing bare-knuckle,” Perry said. “But I wouldn’t put it past Jake Paul because he’s been doing stuff that people would say he’s afraid of and things like that. And that’s partly what drew me to bare-knuckle was that so many were worried about it, or afraid of it, and I’m like, ‘It seems real to me.’ So Jake, man, definitely issuing you a challenge: If you get through Mike Tyson, test yourself for real, and let’s have a street fight” (h/t MMA Junkie).

Perry was also critical of Jake Paul’s recent selection of opponents, particularly after scoring a couple of quick first-round KOs against a pair of no-name fighters under his Most Valuable Promotions banner.

“F*ck Jake,” Perry added. “Yeah, he’s got some talent, but I’d like to say I’m beating him as fast as he’s beating these taxi drivers, especially bare-knuckle. I’ll hurt him, and he’ll cry and run away and cower in the corner in the fetal position.”

Paul is currently scheduled for what is expected to be one of the most watched fights in combat sports history when he steps inside the ring for a boxing match with heavyweight legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson on July 20. The fight will air live on Netflix at no extra charge for the streaming giant’s 260+ million subscribers.
