With both Bonfim brothers competing at UFC Vegas 102, Gabriel Bonfim ensured a strong start for the pair with a second-round submission victory over knockout artist Khaos Williams during the preliminary card.

Williams stalked his competition throughout the opening frame, looking to apply pressure and find the power shots that have led him to victory in the Octagon already. Bonfim, however, showed solid lateral movement over the course of the frame. And while “The Ox Fighter” showed solid takedown defense, his Brazilian counterpart was able to get him down a couple of times during the round.

Williams fended off a late submission attempt prior to the end of the first round. When the same circumstances happened in the second frame’s dying seconds, however, the result was different.

Bonfim locked up a Brabo choke and managed to leave Williams unconscious in a scary scene, scoring the victory with mere seconds remaining at the end of the second round.

The Brazilian is now 4-1 in the UFC since his arrival from Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022.

Meanwhile, since arriving to the UFC in 2020, Williams has consistently lost a fight after winning two — a pattern that has now continued as a result of his loss tonight.

Gabriel Bonfim Puts Khaos Williams to Sleep with Last-Second D'Arce Choke - UFC Vegas 102 Highlights

Gabriel Bonfim added another impressive submission victory at UFC Vegas 102, putting Khaos Williams to sleep with a slick last-second d’arce choke.

The opening round saw Williams hit the mat a couple of times, it was the hands of Bonfim that began to really take control of the fight in the second stanza. Bonfim practically landed his jab at will, alternating it with a stiff calf kick that had William’s lead leg comprised even before we hit the halfway point of the fight.

With a minute to go in the second, Williams tried to let his hands go but in doing so, he opened himself up for an easy takedown. With the clock winding down, Bonfim cinched in a d’arce choke in hopes of securing a last-second finish.

Just when it looked as though Williams would make it out of the round, his arm went limp, forcing referee Herb Dean to step in and call for the stoppage with only two ticks left on the clock.

Official Result: Gabriel Bonfim def. Khaos Williams via submission (d’arce choke) at 4:58 of Round 2.

UFC welterweight Michel Pereira details sparring reigning heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.

Michel Pereira is scheduled to face fellow top 15 170lber’, Sean Brady, in March of next year. For his upcoming training camp, the Brazilian will be training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. Many notable names either train at Xtreme Couture, such as Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis, but the gym is also home to the world’s baddest man, Francis Ngannou.

As part of training, Pereira revealed to Sherdog.com that he shared sparring rounds with ‘The Predator’, comparing Ngannou’s size to that of a fridge.

In one of the first sparrings I did there, the coach told everybody to pair up. Since I was just arriving and didn’t know anybody, everybody was already paired up,” Pereira said. “I looked on both sides and there was only one partner left: Francis Ngannou. Oh my God. It looked like I was grappling with a refrigerator. The guy threw me to one side and another like I was a toy. I got a stiff neck for one week.”

Michel Pereira vs. Sean Brady

Michel Pereira has the opportunity to break into the UFC’s top 15 should he get passed the grappling-heavy approach of Brady. ‘Demolidor’ would reveal that he desperately tried to get onto the upcoming UFC Rio card, but instead would settle for the No.11 ranked Brady, whom he admits he knows little about.

I thought that my hard time finding opponents was due to the fact that I was out of the rankings, but that was a huge mistake“, Pereira said. “[UFC matchmaker Sean] Shelby did everything he could to find me someone to face at UFC Rio, but nobody wanted to fight me. I was really mad until the UFC came with the name of Sean Brady, and it looks like we will fight on March 25.

“All I know is that he is a wrestler. I saw his fight with Belal [Muhammad], but I don’t know much about him,” (H/T Sherdog.com)

Pereria is currently riding a five-fight win streak, holding wins over names such as Khaos Williams, Andre Fialho and Santiago Ponzinibbio.

Khaos Williams

Rising welterweight contender, Khaos Williams was forced to the third round against Miguel Baeza — and even faced some worrying adversity of his own before landing a stunning knockout victory with just over a minute elapsed in the final frame.

Williams, a renowned knockout artist, found himself almost trapped in a nasty heel hook and a kneebar with a minute remaining in the first frame, but managed to successfully defend from the dynamic Baeza, as well as landing a couple of heavy ground strikes as Baeza attacked his lower limbs.

Preventing the judge’s involvement for the third time in his five Octagon walks, Williams rushed forward during a firefight early in the third with Baeza — cracking the latter with a winging right hook, flattening him to score his seventh career knockout triumph from a total 13 career wins.
