Jeremy Stephens scored a massive upset in the BKFC KnuckleMania 5 headliner on Saturday night, landing a big win over former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
In the early going, Alvarez appeared to be leading the dance with his jab front and center. However, things took a quick turn in the opening seconds of the third round when ‘Lil Heathen’ caught Alvarez with a counter right that put ‘The Underground King’ on the mat.
Alvarez answered the continue and continued to fight, but just before the end of the third, he ate another devastating right hand that sent him crashing to the canvas for a second time in less than two minutes. Still, Alvarez fought his way back up, answering the referee’s eight count and making it to his corner. Unfortunately, he would never get off his stool.
Before the beginning of the fourth round, Alvarez’s corner threw in the towel, bringing an end to the contest and awarding Stephens the victory via technical knockout.
Official Result: Jeremy Stephens def. Eddie Alvarez via TKO at 2:00 of Round 3.
Immediately following the contest, Stephens called out Conor McGregor who got into the ring with ‘Lil Heathen’ and suggested that the two “set a date” for a potential scrap inside the squared circle.

McGregor showed up late for Thursday’s press event ahead of Saturday’s BKFC KnuckleMania V card in Philadelphia, PA. Once he stepped on stage and took the podium, the Irish megastar apologized … for absolutely nothing!
“Oh, Philly,” McGregor said. “Sorry I’m late. I don’t give a f*ck. I’m the big boss around here,” McGregor said. “Philadelphia, what’s up? I’m here to summon the gods of fighting into action. May they turn our combatants’ knuckles to knives. And on Saturday night, may we all bleed in the honor of Philadelphia’s rich fighting history.
“May we, as Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship’s organization, the alien of combat sport, rise above the night’s sky and rain down blows viciously, and prove our worth against any deniers” (h/t MMA Junkie).

McGregor was also on hand to oversee the faceoff between KnuckleMania main eventers Eddie Alvarez and Jeremy Stephens. Of course, the Irishman has a history with Alvarez, defeating ‘The Underground King’ in November 2016 to capture the UFC lightweight championship.
Despite having a history with both Alvarez and Stephens, ‘Mystic Mac’ made it pretty clear who he was backing ahead of Saturday’s event inside Wells Fargo Arena.
“May local boy and former UFC lightweight champion, former Bellator world champion, shut this man up over here, Jeremy Stephens,” McGregor said. “He’s coming in here into Philadelphia on this great sporting weekend and trying to take you out, Eddie. This is as big a fight as it gets with world title fight implications. Like I said, combatants, turn your knuckles into knives.
“Bleed in the honor of Philadelphia’s rich fighting history and show the people what Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is about. Let’s go, Philadelphia. Let’s go, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.”

On Tuesday, BKFC announced that the fifth installment of KnuckleMania will showcase a showdown between UFC veterans Eddie Alvarez and Jeremy Stephens. The highly anticipated bout is scheduled for Jan. 25 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
“The Underground King” made a strong entrance into the world of bare-knuckle fighting with a victory over fellow UFC veteran Chad Mendes at BKFC 41 in April 2023. However, his momentum faltered in his second outing, suffering a TKO loss to BKFC’s marquee star Mike Perry in December.
Now, Alvarez is gearing up for a homecoming, aiming to deliver a memorable performance in front of his hometown crowd in Philadelphia. This marks his first fight in the city in over 14 years, with his last appearance dating back to October 2010 when he secured a TKO win against Roger Huerta at Bellator 33.
Meanwhile, Stephens remains unbeaten in his bare-knuckle career, having made a stunning debut with a third-round TKO victory over Jimmie Rivera at BKFC 56. “Lil Heathen” is riding high off a dominant unanimous decision win over Bobby Taylor at BKFC 65 this past September.
The bare-knuckle promotion is making its long-awaited debut in Pennsylvania, following the state’s athletic commission granting official sanctioning for gloveless boxing in 2023.

Former UFC and Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez offered his take on the recent scandal surrounding Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill.
Hours, before he was scheduled to take the field for opening week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the superstar wide receiver found himself in handcuffs and facedown on the concrete during a routine traffic stop just outside of Hard Rock Stadium. Footage of the incident quickly went viral and sparked outrage.
However, police bodycam footage has since been released that showed Hill was arguing with the officers on duty, shedding some additional light on the entire ordeal.
Revealing his thoughts on the matter, Alvarez appeared to side with the police officers involved and expressed his intolerance for any kind of disrespect being aimed at law enforcement.
“I find out my kids ever disrespect a police office, they better hope they get arrested … Coming home won’t be the place to go,” Alvarez wrote on X.
Eddie Alvarez doubles down
Unsurprisingly, Alvarez was bombarded with comments on social media, but that only encouraged the former ONE Championship star to double down on his initial statement.
After a career-defining run in both the UFC and Bellator, Alvarez competed four times under the ONE Championship banner, going 1-2 with one no-contest.
Since exiting the Singapore-based promotion, ‘The Underground King’ has made two appearances for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, defeating Chad Mendes via split decision before suffering second round TKO against ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry at BKFC 56 last year.
