Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones is widely considered to be the very best fighter of all-time. In fact, the pound-for-pound king has never surrendered a loss aside from a disqualification in a bout he was clearly winning.

Despite his dominance inside of the cage, however, “Bones” admits that he’s ‘not a guy that wins everyday’, as there are times where his training partners get the better of him:

“There’s a lot of guys who are on my team currently, a lot of guys on my team who aren’t in the UFC who can beat me on any given day. I get taken down all the time in practice. I get hit pretty hard. I get tapped out all the time in practice,” Jones said. “To the fans and other fighters, they probably look at me as close to unbeatable, whereas if you spend time with me, you see that I’m definitely not a guy that wins every day.” Jones said during a recent media scrum.

It’s getting humbled in the gym, however, that has led Jones to be unbeatable on fight night. Continuing on, Jones claimed that he doesn’t dive too far into the hype as some of his fellow UFC stars have:

“I know that I can be beat and I think that’s why I haven’t been beat, where some of these guys really start to believe their hype,” he said. “Ronda Rousey, they were saying she’s the best fighter of all time and best athlete in the world, stuff like that and I was happy for her to hear those types of accolades, but once I realized that maybe she was starting to believe it herself, I knew she was in a dangerous spot. Conor McGregor saying these things about just being the baddest dude and ‘I’ll beat anybody at any weight class,’ that’s foolish stuff. When you believe the hype to that level, that’s when you’re in danger.”

Both McGregor and Rousey, two of the fight game’s biggest names, are coming off devastating losses after receiving insane amounts of media attention. In closing, Jones said that his unbeaten record can be attributed to how serious he takes fighting and how focused he tends to be on the task at hand rather than everything else that comes with being a star:

“I talk about being confident in winning all the time, but the reason why I tend to always win is because at the end of the day I’m more nervous than any other fighter. It causes me to spend every night until 3 o’clock in the morning just on my laptop watching the same damn fight over and over again with a notebook, thinking about the ways I can lose, thinking about what I need to do. That’s really what I attribute to being undefeated for all these years, just how seriously I take it and how I know how much I don’t know.”

Jones is slated to face off with bitter rival Daniel Cormier in hope of recapturing his title in the main event of July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The monumental UFC 200 card is just over a week away as the event is slated for July 9, 2016 from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Featuring three title fights and some of the biggest names in the sport, UFC 200 could very well could go down as the biggest card in promotional history.

One fight that has stuck out lies in the co-main event slot, as former UFC heavyweight champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) performer Brock Lesnar will make his highly-anticipated return to action against knockout artist. Mark Hunt. Despite being one of the biggest draws in the history of the sport, Lesnar, who main evented UFC 100, won’t headline the show, as the main attraction features a long-awaited rematch between Daniel Cormier and pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones.

Jones will attempt to recapture the light heavyweight title he lost to trouble with the law rather than an opponent, and get back to ruling the division. A few more defenses of the strap likely remain for Jones if he topples Cormier, but Lesnar’s future with the UFC is unclear after July 9th.

One interesting suggestion that came from an MMA insider on Twitter earlier today (June 29, 2016) was that Jones, who has touched upon a potential jump to heavyweight in the past, and Lesnar do battle next if both come out victorious:

While this thought may seem a bit outlandish and unrealistic, Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, replied to the tweet saying that he ‘could see’ the potentially massive clash taking place:

Would you be interesting in seeing the pound-for-pound king dance with “The Beast”?

The monumental UFC 200 card is now just a few weeks away as the event is slated to take place on July 9, 2016 from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event will feature a long-awaited rematch over a year in the making as interim 205-pound champion and pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones attempts to recapture the title from reigning champion Daniel “DC” Cormier. Jones scored a unanimous decision over Cormier in January 2015, but was stripped of the title later that year after running into legal issues.

In the evening’s co-main event, former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE superstar Brock Lesnar will make his somewhat shocking, yet highly-anticipated return against legendary knockout artist Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt. Lesnar’s return was announced earlier this month at June 4’s UFC 199, and Hunt was named as his opponent soon thereafter.

Also on the main card, newly minted women’s bantamweight champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate will defend her 135-pound strap against Brazilian contender Amanda Nunes. And if that wasn’t enough, Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar will rematch with the interim featherweight title hanging in the balance.

Daniel Cormier Blasts Jon Jones’ Power: He Can’t Punch

In just a few weeks, a bitter rivalry will be renewed, as Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones are set to square off in their highly-anticipated light heavyweight title rematch at July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two men met for the first time in January 2015 at UFC 182 where Jones defended his then held 205-pound strap in decisive fashion, cruising to a unanimous decision victory.

This time, however, the circumstances are reversed. Cormier is now the champion looking to get revenge on the only man to ever defeat him, and he’s as confident as ever that he will indeed do so.

Cormier is well aware of how talented Jones is, as many consider “Bones” to be the very best mixed martial artist of all-time.

In terms of pure punching power, however, DC was never impressed by the ex-champion:

“He cannot punch,” Cormier laughed as he spoke to Opie & Jim Norton (HT: MMA Digest). “He hit me, and I’m like ‘Wow! This is actually him punching me as hard as he can.’ He can’t punch, so he has to throw elbows, kicks, and knees, because he can’t punch. He doesn’t hit very hard, so he has to do something.”

“He does not punch very hard, I’ll be honest with you, man. He kicks very hard, he knees very hard, and he elbows hard, but he can’t punch.”

As far as who he believes is the division’s most feared puncher, Cormier was quick to note Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, the man he beat in April 2015 to become the undisputed champion:

Anthony Johnson, 100 percent,” he said. “Anthony Johnson hits harder than any other person, no doubt. Every time he hit me, it made me kind of like fly all over the place. He was trying to take my head off. Even when he’d miss, you can hear it.”

Jones has said many times leading up the rematch that he is coming for the finish, but does he have the power to put the former Olympian away?

Daniel Cormier Compares Brock Lesnar’s UFC Return To Christmas

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s return at next month’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 has sure over shadowed the event’s highly anticipated main event between reigning 205-pound champion Daniel “DC” Cormier and ex-champion Jon “Bones” Jones. Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s return at next month’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 has sure over shadowed the event’s highly anticipated main event between reigning 205-pound champion Daniel “DC” Cormier and ex-champion Jon “Bones” Jones.

Cormier has no issue with this, however, as he recently compared Lesnar’s return to ‘Christmas time’ on yesterday’s (June 13, 2016) edition of The MMA Hour:

“So I started to ask everyone when I heard about it because, you know, I got it from a pretty reliable source. I messaged Brock. I said, ‘Hey Brock, is it Christmas time in the Cormier household? Because Brock Lesnar equals pay-per-view buys.’ But he didn’t respond. Then finally after the commercial ran, I got a response from Brock that said, ‘Merry Christmas DC.’ And I was like ‘You got to be kidding me!’ I had to take a moment, sit in the corner a little bit and try to compose myself. It’s tremendous, man.”

In Cormier’s opinion, his rematch with Jones is the biggest fight available in mixed martial arts (MMA) as of now. With that being said, adding Lesnar’s return into the mix should provide for fireworks in Las Vegas:

“It’s a big event; you got Brock Lesnar who you can argue is the biggest star in UFC history. And I believe you have the most important fight that UFC can put on right now. I love Nate, love Conor, it’s a huge fight, but what is it for? It isn’t for a belt. It’s not going to lead to a title shot, it’s a fight that people just want to see because it’s an attraction. When it comes to Jon and I, you have the most important fight UFC can put on at the most important event.”

The card will feature three title fights including the main event, and Lesnar will face off with veteran slugger and legendary knockout artist Mark Hunt in the co-main event.

Is UFC 200 the biggest event of all-time?

UFC 200 is just around the corner as the blockbuster event is slated for July 9, 2016 from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event will play host to a long-awaited rematch between bitter rivals Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones as “DC” puts his light heavyweight strap on the line against the ex-champion in Jones.

The two have been going back and forth since the fight was booked, and even prior to that as the two originally met at January 2015’s UFC 182 with Jones defending his then held title in decisive fashion.

Recently, Cormier took yet another jab at “Bones”, posting a video of himself hitting a heavy bag with the former champion’s face planted on it.

Apparently Jones has gotten wind of the video, and to no surprise has fired back at the ‘paper champion’ as he referred to Cormier as.

Check out “Bones’” response below via his official Instagram account:

Using the term ‘paper champion’, Jones is alluding to the fact that Cormier never technically took the title from him. After being arrested on felony hit-and-run charges in April 2015, Jones was stripped of his long-held title and suspended indefinitely.

Cormier would go on to choke out Anthony Johnson to secure the vacant title before defending it in a five round war against Alexander Gustafsson last October.

“DC” and Jones were set to settle the score at April 23’s UFC 197 in “Bones’” return, but Cormier was forced to withdraw with an injury. Jones would go on to score a rather lackluster decision over late replacement Ovince St. Preux to become the interim 205-pound title holder.

How do you see the rematch playing out?
