Khabib Nurmagomedov

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov knew about Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to return to Manchester United well before the rest of the world did.

According to utdreport, Nurmagomedov said “A month ago he [Cristiano Ronaldo] told me that he was moving to MUFC. I expected this deal to take place. I think that Manchester United is more suitable for him than Juventus. For me, the transition was not a surprise.”

Ronaldo spent six years with Manchester United from 2003-2009 where he won many trophies and awards while dominating the English Premier League. Now 13 years later Ronaldo is back and ready to dominate the league once again for Manchester United.

The greatest Lightweight fighter of all time Nurmagomedov was rumored to have signed with a football team recently. Rumor had it that Nurmagomedov was signing with FC Legion Dynamo, a football club out of Russia. The team is based out of Dagestan which is the hometown of the legendary Nurmagomedov and many other fighters. Those rumors were shot down and called “fake news” by ‘The Eagle’s’ manager Ali Abdelaziz.

Nurmagomedov has been speaking about many things recently including, the “uselessness of ring girls” and how Jose Aldo can’t have another peak in his career. Nurmagomedov has been nicknamed the ‘Karen’ of the MMA world (by up and coming star Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett) with how he has been speaking recently. Although he is not fighting anymore, ‘The Eagle’ is still making headlines and fight fans are eating it up. The more Nurmagomedov talks the more headlines and things we collectively have to talk about. Nurmagomedov has also made the MMA rounds as a coach this year and is a perfect 4-0 as a coach this season.

Do you think Khabib Nurmagomedov will ever play football professionally?

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has been backed to beat Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 by Cristiano Ronaldo – one of the greatest football (soccer) players ever.

Nurmagomedov will attempt to unify the lightweight division for a second time in as many fights against ‘The Hightlight’ at UFC 254 in Abhu Dhabi next Saturday (October 24).

The Juventus striker is a big MMA fan and has previously been pictured in training with Nurmagomedov’s biggest foe, Conor McGregor, who he invited to party with Jennifer Lopez. He met Nurmagomedov back in 2018 and presented the undefeated Russian with a Real Madrid shirt.

Ronaldo is currently self-isolating after testing positive for the coronavirus. In order to pass the time while in isolation the Portuguese superstar took part in a social media live stream where he answered questions from fans.

During the Q&A Ronaldo was asked who he was backing at UFC 254.

“Of course, of course, Khabib. Khabib is going to win,” Ronaldo replied.

“My brother. Inshallah,” he added.

Ronaldo is right to back Nurmagomedov at UFC 254. ‘The Eagle’ has established himself as one of the most dominant figures in all of sport throughout his 28 professional MMA fights. Since joining the UFC back in 2012 he has looked as close to perfect as humanly possible. Nurmagomedov has dispatched 11 different opponents without suffering any real damage and rarely losing a round. The 32-year-old has beaten the likes of Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Rafael Dos Anjos, and Edson Barboza to cement his lightweight legacy. He now faces another top contender in Gaethje.

‘The Highlight’ earned his shot at Nurmagomeov in epic style last time out. Gaethje dominated former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson for the vast majority of their UFC 249 main event scheduled for five rounds. Gaethje put such a brutal beating on ‘El Cuccy’ that referee Herb Dean mercifully waved off the fight despite the fact Ferguson was still standing in the fifth and final round. Prior to that Gaethje has scored three consecutive first-round KO’s over James Vick, Edson Barboza and Donald Cerrone.

Do you agree with Cristiano Ronaldo? Will Khabib Nurmagomedov beat Justin Gaethje at UFC 254?

Conor McGregor Claims He’s Surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo as Highest-Paid Athlete

Conor McGregor claims to have overtaken Real Madrid and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest-paid athlete in the world following his 2017 boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Notorious recently announced a new sponsorship with Burger King, which he has suggested will take him past Ronaldo as the best-paid sportsperson in the world, via his official Instagram account:

The Mirror‘s Martin Domin reported in November that McGregor raked in £75 million for his 10th-round defeat to Mayweather last August, with speculation of a potential mixed martial arts meeting between the two.

The Dubliner hasn’t fought in the Octagon since beating Eddie Alvarez to become the UFC lightweight champion in November 2016.

McGregor may be a popular figure as far as his endorsement deals go, but UFC president Dana White told Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times the former two-weight champion will be stripped of his lightweight crown at UFC 223 on April 7.

That’s when interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson will face off against top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, as White said: “That’s exactly right: As soon as one punch is thrown, it’s on for the full title and it’s only fair. They’ve both worked their way up to No. 1 and No. 2. They deserve a shot.”

McGregor also posted a video of his opening advertisement on behalf of Burger King to his Instagram:

Per Domin’s report, McGregor said he earns £500,000 per month when he’s out of competition, equivalent to £6 million a year. Ronaldo earns around £365,000 per week at Real, per Goal’s Oli Platt, meaning it would take him roughly four-and-a-half months to match that figure.

The Notorious spoke to Yahoo Sport in November and broke down his previous appearance on Forbes‘ highest-paid athletes list and his aspirations to eclipse Ronaldo’s status as No. 1:

While MMA is growing every year as a mainstream sport, Ronaldo is one of the best players in football, the most popular sport in the world.

Endorsements such as his new Burger King partnership will help McGregor close the gap on the Portuguese star, but even McGregor’s earnings from his Mayweather duel may struggle to pull him level with Real’s richest.

Conor McGregor Reportedly Set to Overtake Cristiano Ronaldo on Forbes Rich List

Conor McGregor will reportedly overtake Cristiano Ronaldo in Forbes‘ list of the world’s highest-paid athletes following his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

According to the MailOnline’s Will Griffee, McGregor is set to earn £77 million for fighting Mayweather despite his 10th-round TKO defeat, and the Irishman can stand to earn more through sponsorship deals or further fights before the year’s end.

Real Madrid star Ronaldo sits atop this year’s rich list with earnings of £71 million.

The Notorious infamously predicted he would overtake Ronaldo on the list when he met the forward last year, saying: “You were number one on the Forbes list, I was like number 35 or something. I’ll get up. Maybe next year I’ll get you.”

According to Griffee, Ronaldo is said to have replied with “I don’t think so,” but it appears McGregor may well have been right thanks to Saturday’s superfight.

His opponent, Mayweather, looks set to eclipse them both at the top, though, as he could reportedly earn as much as £233 million after winning the bout to extend his record to 50-0.

Money retired once again after the fight, while McGregor pledged he is “still gonna raise the MMA cheques” when he returns to UFC, per Fox Sports: UFC:

Forbes‘ Brian Mazique believes McGregor’s career earnings would be even higher had he followed a career in boxing from the start:

That may well be the case, but having become the face of the UFC, the 29-year-old is nevertheless riding the crest of a wave, and his high-profile crossover has evidently been extremely lucrative.

According to ForbesMatt Connolly, McGregor’s three headline UFC events in 2016 brought in an estimated four million pay-per-view buys, along with a combined $33.5 million in ticket sales.

With McGregor’s draw seemingly climbing ever higher, further fights in 2017 and beyond may even see those numbers increase.
