Weeks after Chuck Liddell broke Rich Franklin‘s left arm in their fight at UFC 115, Franklin has come up with a novel idea for what to do with the cast he’s been wearing since: He’s going to raffle it off, with the proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

By purchasing a $5 raffle ticket at Franklin’s web site, fans can be entered into a drawing to win the cast, which has been signed by Liddell and will be signed by Franklin after it’s removed. There’s no date set for the drawing because Franklin isn’t yet sure when his doctor will tell him it’s time to remove the cast, but it’s expected to come off later this month.

If there’s anybody who should understand what Chuck Liddell is going through these days, it’s Dana White. The UFC president said this weekend that the 40 year-old Liddell remains undecided about retirement, and apparently attending all these live MMA events as a spectator isn’t exactly helping him let it go.

“He told me tonight the show open messed him up, watching [UFC 116] open,” White said. “This guy’s in this longer than me. He’s been around forever and loves the sport. All I’m hoping is that he makes the right decision.”

Reading those words, your heart has to break a little for the former champion. Imagine him sitting there on fight night — the music blaring through the arena, the UFC highlight reel bringing the crowd to a boil, the entire cocktail of emotions he used to live for — only now he’s watching from the outside, struggling to stay in his seat.

LAS VEGAS — Despite a recent dinner meeting between UFC president Dana White and ex-champion Chuck Liddell, the future of the “Iceman” remains uncertain.

While White is on the record saying Liddell will never again fight in the Octagon, Liddell may still harbor some hopes about continuing to fight, if not in the UFC, then elsewhere. It’s just not a decision that has yet to be reached.

Chuck LiddellLAS VEGAS — UFC President Dana White and former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell haven’t had a chance to sit down and talk since Liddell’s recent knockout at the hands of Rich Franklin.

That changes Thursday night. White and Liddell are scheduled to have dinner, and though there is no official agenda, it’s quite likely the subject of fighting again will come up.

But White says this time, there will be no going back on his word. This time, there is no chance that Liddell can convince him for one more run in the octagon.

Dana White Insists Chuck Liddell Will Never Fight in the UFC Again

After Rich Franklin wrapped up Chuck Liddell’s night with a nicely timed right hand at UFC 115, handing “The Iceman” his third straight KO loss, Dana White was quick to announce that the legendary fighter would never fight in the Octagon again. After Rich Franklin wrapped up Chuck Liddell’s night with a nicely timed right hand at UFC 115, handing “The Iceman” his third straight KO loss, Dana White was quick to announce that the legendary fighter would never fight in the Octagon again. Of course, since then, you’ve probably noticed a bazillion online articles pointing out the fact that the UFC boss man said the same thing last year, after Chuck was bombed out by “Shogun” Rua.

What has also been rather deja-vu-ish is that, just like after Chuck’s loss last year, the former champ hasn’t actually, you know, agreed to retire. In fact, in some of his most recent interviews the 40 year-old Liddell has sounded much more like a guy that is hoping to fight again, rather than hang em-up. Well, after the UFC 116 presser today, White fielded several questions about Liddell and his future in the organization (thanks to MMA Weekly for the quote).

“Can Chuck Liddell still make money? Could I make money off Chuck Liddell? Yes,” White said, before declaring, “I don’t want that money. I don’t want to make that kind of money. I’m not interested in that”…“He’ll never fight in the UFC again.”

In addition, when asked if he would release Liddell provided ”The Iceman” insisted so that he could fight again elsewhere, White conceded he would. Now that’s some pretty definitive sounding stuff no?
