UFC bantamweight Casey Kenney has issued a public apology for comments he made about featherweight fighter Megan Anderson.

Kenney is currently doing the media rounds ahead of his fight against 135lb legend Dominick Cruz at UFC 259 on March 6. Anderson is set to appear in the co-main event of that card, she will challenge dual-weight titleholder, Amanda Nunes.

During an appearance on Sean O’Malley’s podcast, Kenney was asked by Suga’s coach Tim Welch if he would have sex with Anderson.

“Probably not, man,” Kenney replied while laughing. “She’s not too … well, I mean, if it came down to it, and it was like 5 a.m., 4, she’s a 5 a.m.-er, 4 a.m.-er. Just us two hanging out, like, ‘F*ck it, let’s do it.’” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

The clip was shared on social media and Anderson was not happy at what she was hearing.

“I guess MMA is a line of work where you can publicly talk about whether you’d have sex with a coworker in an utterly degrading way and face zero consequences,” Anderson wrote. “Disgusting behavior and it’s unfortunate that he’ll be fighting on my card in March.

Kenney replied to Anderson with an apology, he wrote.

@MeganA_mma I’m sorry this upset you. I will be more careful with my words. I was just answering a question and thought it was all a joking matter. I see I was wrong and I’m sorry. Best of luck with training camp and your fight.”

As of right now, Anderson has not acknowledged Kenney’s apology

Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has been booked to fight rising star Casey Kenney on March 6 according to a report from MMA Junkie who claim two people with knowledge of the booking have verified the match-up and date.

Cruz hasn’t been seen inside the Octagon since his failed bid to regain the UFC bantamweight title. The 35-year-old suffered a TKO defeat inside two rounds against the now-retired former dual-weight champion Henry Cejudo at UFC 249 in May.

Prior to that bout, Cruz spent more than three years out of fighting due to various injury issues after losing his bantamweight title to Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207 in December 2016.

Kenney is something of a surprise opponent choice due to the fact he is not currently ranked at 135lbs. The 29-year-old bounced back from his first and only UFC loss earlier this year to put together a three-fight winning streak. In October Kenney beat Heili Alateng and Nathaniel Wood in a three-week period to announce himself as a potential bantamweight contender.

Earlier tonight (Saturday, October, 24th. 2020) UFC 254: Khabib vs. Gaethje took place from the Flash Forum on ‘Fight Island’ on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. UFC president, Dana White announced the following bonuses at tonight’s post-fight press conference.

Taking main event honours, Khabib ‘The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov successfully unified the lightweight crown opposite interim titleholder, Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje – before announcing his stunning retirement from professional mixed martial arts at an undeniable 29-0.

Finding himself on the wrong end of a number of worrying leg kicks early in the opening round, Khabib forced Gaethje to fight off the fence and never allowed him get comfortable, with massive pressure and pace. With a visibly fatigued Gaethje returning to his stool, Khabib managed to take the Arizona native’s back in the second-round in a scramble near the Octagon fence. Assuming full-mount, Khabib then dropped to his back, locking up a taut triangle – with Gaethje ultimately falling unconscious after a series of taps.

An emotional Khabib gathered his thoughts in the centre of the Octagon afterwards, before calling time on his illustrious career, after a promise he had made to his mother following the passing of his father, Abdulmanap. The victory proved enough for Khabib to score a Performance of The Night bonus.

Opening up our main card portion of the event, an intriguing light heavyweight rematch between rivals, Magomed Ankalaev and Ion Cutelaba. Following a controversial stoppage in March of this year – the pair looked to finally settle the score in a heated rivalry.

Dropping the Moldovan in the opening frame, Ankalaev then scored a massive counter left-hook to drop Cutelaba a second time – with a series of massive ground-and-pound hammer-fists finishing Cutelaba. No question here – clean as a whistle for the dangerous, Ankalaev. With the victory, the division contender also picked up Performance of The Night spoils.

Earning Fight of The Night bonuses apiece – bantamweight contenders, Nathaniel ‘The Prospect’ Wood, and Casey Kenney clashed at a 140-pound catchweight, in an exciting three-round barnburner. Lodging his second win of this month alone, Kenney managed to take home a unanimous decision win over Wood in an intriguing affair.
