Casey Kenney wants to become the first man to stop Song Yadong inside the Octagon when they square off at UFC 265.

The former LFA dual-weight champion is intent in making a statement following his razor-thin decision loss against bantamweight legend, Dominick Cruz, last time out.

In an interview with LowKickMMA, Kenney spoke with excitement about the prospect of fighting in front of fans again at UFC 265 which will take place in front of live crowd at a venue yet to be disclosed.

“You guys see how I fight, especially this fight coming up,” Kenney said. “Song Yadong, he comes forward, throws down and that’s the fight with fans. You get a fight like the Nathaniel Wood and I or even Dom you know, with fans in there, the place is going to be electric. (It’s) a similar Casey Kenney you’re going to see out there, but you know, a little fan boost never hurts anyone. It’s going to be a good energy.”

The 30-year-old thinks his style meshes well with Yadong’s and if the Chinese fighter can stand up to his power they are destined for a Fight of the Night bonus cheque.

“I always say my style, if you survive, it’s going to be fight of the night,” Kenney said. “He’s got a similar style, so I think that’s Fight of the Night written all over it right there.”

Ultimately though, Kenney doesn’t think that’s how his UFC 265 fight will play out.

“I’m looking for a finish man, you know, they don’t pay by the hour in there and I’m due a finish,” Kenney said. “I don’t think he’s been finished in the UFC, so I’m looking to put Song away and be the first guy to finish him in the UFC.”

Do you think Casey Kenney will get back in the win column when he squares off against Song Yadong at UFC 265?

UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley has spoken out for the first time since Casey Kenney made sexual and insensitive remarks about Megan Anderson during an appearance on his podcast.

During a January episode of “The Timbo Sugarshow”, Kenney was asked by O’Malley’s coach, Tim Welch, if he would “smash” Megan Anderson.

“Probably not, man,” Kenney replied while laughing. “She’s not too … well, I mean, if it came down to it, and it was like 5 a.m., 4, she’s a 5 a.m.-er, 4 a.m.-er. Just us two hanging out, like, ‘F*ck it, let’s do it.’”

Anderson took to social media to blast Kenney for his “utterly degrading” remarks.

“I guess MMA is a line of work where you can publicly talk about whether you’d have sex with a coworker in an utterly degrading way and face zero consequences,” Anderson wrote. “Disgusting behavior and it’s unfortunate that he’ll be fighting on my card in March.

Kenney has since apologized for his comments but O’Malley had stayed silent on the issue until a recent interview with Ariel Helwani.

“I think that’s just a … I mean, you can’t let … if someone … you can’t let someone else’s words affect how you feel emotionally,” O’Malley said about Megan Anderson. “If you said something about me, and I … I don’t know. It’s … I don’t know. I don’t know. She’s not a co-worker anymore. It is what it is.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

The former Invicta champion has seemly responded to O’Malleys comments with the below post on Twitter.

O’Malley is set to compete at UFC 260 this Saturday. ‘Suga’ will face Thomas Almeida.

It’s his first bout back since losing his undefeated record against Marlon Vera at UFC 252.

Do you think Sean O’Malley should’ve been more apologetic for his role in upsetting Megan Anderson?

Dominick Cruz

Former two-time UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz is back in the winner’s enclosure for the first time since June of 2016 — via a competitive split decision win over Casey Kenney to round out our preliminary portion of UFC 259.

Utilizing his patented footwork to evade some winging shots from Kenney early in the round, former champion, Cruz got into his flow early, finding his mark with well timed and placed leg kicks and dipping-hooks, as well as a notable right high-kick.

Starting to find his mark with a low, inside leg kick, Kenney had a kick-heavy approach — looking to hamper the mesmerizing movement of Cruz. Another round in the books for Cruz, however, he did find himself on the receiving end of a notable check left hook before the buzzer, as Kenney gained a front head-lock.

Some decent grappling scrambles to begin the third, with Kenney chasing a guillotine, while Cruz maintained side-control before landing a good knee to the body in the clinch before the break. With Casey extremely fatigued, Cruz managed to nab a knee tap takedown, in a difference making moment in the third and final round.

Below, check out the highlights of former titleholder, Cruz’s decision win over Kenney.

Casey Kenney is only targeting big names from hereon out.

Kenney takes on former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz in the featured prelim spot of the UFC 259 pay-per-view event.

It’s undoubtedly the biggest fight of Kenney’s career, especially with Cruz being one of the pioneers of the bantamweight division as well as arguably the greatest 135er of all time.

Kenney even used to watch him fight, but will not be awestruck when he steps opposite the cage from him.

“I think I was in college or just on the summer of college break and I was trying to decide whether I wanted to go back or become a fighter,” Kenney told Middle Easy. “My friends and I used to sit around and watch UFC fights. Of course him (Cruz) and Faber went at it. They were the lighter guys, and they were just bringing in the (1)35 and (1)45 division too. So I been watching Dominick Cruz as far back as 2011.

“It means a lot to fight him, but at the end of the day he’s just another guy. He’s across the cage from me and in my way. He’s a legend of the sport. But all of that changes when we get locked in there.”

A win over Cruz would put Kenney on a four-fight winning streak and likely move him up the bantamweight ranks further.

And while he is not looking past Cruz, he is ideally looking to face more former champions in the division before eventually challenging for the title.

“Obviously I’m in the top 15 now. The number doesn’t really matter to me,” Kenney added. “But you beat a former champion, I feel like i’d deserve another former champion. And there’s a handful of them to pick from.

“I wouldn’t mind getting (Jose) Aldo or (TJ) Dillashaw. Aldo, Dillashaw or Garbrandt. Those are three former champions that I’ve thought of. So (I’ll) take out a couple former champs and we can go from there.”

Do you think Kenney will beat Cruz? Or will this be a case of the veteran coming out on top?
