Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has spoken out on his time with the UFC and how it compared to working for WWE.

Lesnar remains a massive star in the professional wrestling scene and is one of the biggest personalities in WWE. He also made a name for himself in the Octagon by earning the heavyweight title despite relatively little MMA experience leading up to his 2008 fight against Randy Couture.

Lesnar retired from the UFC following his loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. After five years away from the sport, he would return for UFC 200 in one of the most highly-anticipated Octagon appearances in recent memory.

Lesnar last competed in this bout against Mark Hunt. He won the fight via unanimous decision, but the decision was later overturned to a no-contest after Lesnar tested positive for PEDs.

Lesnar has teased the idea of a return to the UFC, most notably when Daniel Cormier won the title over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226.

During a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Lesnar revealed what his relationship is like with UFC President Dana White today and how he feels he was treated by the promotion.

“Dana’s all right,” Lesnar said of White. “I’ve got a lot of money from him. I probably should have got paid more, maybe.”

Lesnar went on to compare working for White compared to his at-times tumultuous relationship with WWE headman Vince McMahon.

“I really can’t compare the two guys,” Lesnar said. “Honestly, my relationship with Vince is so different than it is with Dana over the years. Vince and I have had a love-hate relationship for the last 20 years, but it’s been good. We have a lot of water under the bridge. I have a lot of respect for both.”

Lesnar’s admission that he feels he should’ve been compensated better is eye-opening during the current debate regarding fighter pay. Fighters such as Jorge Masvidal and current heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou have been a couple of the critics of the UFC’s current pay model.

Lesnar appears to be done with MMA, but the UFC will forever be a part of his athletic legacy.

What is Brock Lesnar’s legacy in MMA in your opinion?

Bobby Lashley

15-2 former professional mixed martial artist, Bobby Lashley spoke up his chances of defeating former undisputed UFC heavyweight championship holder, Brock Lensar recently ahead of last night’s professional wrestling event, Royal Rumble – and managed to prevail last night, scoring a pinfall win.

Bobby Lashley, who last competed in professional mixed martial arts back in October 2016, submitted Josh Appelt with a second round rear-naked choke at Bellator 162 – improving to 15-2 as a professional.

The victory came as Bobby Lashley’s fifth under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner, and as of 2018, the renowned finisher remained under contract with the organization after his return to the WWE to pursue professional wrestling again.

Brock Lesnar successfully landed two defenses of his UFC heavyweight title between 2009 and 2010

For Lesnar, the former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion made his final mixed martial arts appearance in a short notice UFC 200 bout against Mark Hunt in an eventual official ‘No Contest’ after taking home a unanimous decision win.

Lesnar was subsequently issued a lengthy USADA suspension after testing positive for clomiphene during in-competition drug tests ahead of his brief UFC comeback and confirmed his retirement from the sport soon thereafter.

Earlier in the night, however. Lesnar, who eventually went on to win the men’s instalment of the Royal Rumble – suffered a pinfall loss against Bobby Lashley after interference from Roman Reigns and Lesnar’s manager, Paul Heyman in a WWE Championship match.

Before Lesnar’s rumble victory, another former UFC champion, former bantamweight titleholder, Ronda Rousey made her return to the Vince McMahon outfit – winning the women’s instalment of the rumble match.

Ending her professional career boasting a 12-2 professional record, Rousey, a former UFC and Strikeforce bantamweight champion suffered consecutive knockout losses to former bantamweight titleholders, Holly Holm, and Amanda Nunes in 2015, and 2016, respectively to end her career.

Rousey currently ties current flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko for most successful title defenses amongst women in the UFC with six successful knockbacks against Liz Carmouche, Miesha Tate, Sara McMann, Alexis Davis, Cat Zingano, and Bethe Correia.

Brock Lesnar’s Next Opponent Thinks He’s Better At MMA

Lesnar and Lashley are two of the few WWE stars who have successfully transitioned to MMA. The WWE champion had tremendous success in the UFC, beating the likes of Randy Couture and Frank Mir while he also holding heavyweight gold.

Lashley is a former Bellator and Strikeforce heavyweight who amassed an impressive 15-2 record in MMA. ‘The Dominator’ holds several high-profile wins over the likes of Jason Guida, Bob Sapp and James Thompson. Lashley has not fought in MMA since 2016 when he defeated Josh Appelt via rear naked choke submission.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Lashley claimed that although he never became a champion in the sport he was a better MMA fighter than Lesnar.

“Without trying to disrespect him, I don’t know what he’s capable of doing as far as, like, skill wise because I don’t know,” Lashley said. “Afterwards, I taught boxing, I taught jiu-jitsu at my gym. As far as skill for skill and knowledge for knowledge, I have a lot more than he does.”

Who do you think was the better MMA fighter, Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley?

Bobby Lashley

Just days ahead of his upcoming WWE Championship bout at Royal Rumble with Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley weighed in on who he thought was the better mixed martial arts fighter between the two.

In a recent sitdown with Ariel Helwani on his show, The MMA Hour, Lashley was asked who he thought was the more skilled MMA fighter. The question was initially met with some hesitance but ultimately, ‘The Almighty’ had to go with himself.

Without trying to disrespect him, I don’t know what he’s capable doing as far as, like, skill wise because I don’t know. Afterwards, I taught boxing, I taught jiu-jitsu at my gym.” Lashley continued by saying, “as far as skill for skill and knowledge for knowledge, I have a lot more than he does.”

Check out the full interview below.

Lashley went on to discuss the early days of his MMA career and the way he approached combat, saying that he was a student of the game who trained with the mentality that he was always there to sharpen his skills in some way.

Bobby Lashley Has Not Had Martial Arts Fight In Over Five Years

The last time Lashley fought in an organized MMA fight was at Bellator 162 in 2016 when he defeated Josh Appelt. Lashley fought for the promotion a total of five times and won every contest by finish.

Lashley ultimately chose to fight with Bellator because president Scott Coker allowed for him to compete in WWE while still under contract. It was announced in 2018 that Lashley was still under contract with the promotion, but he has not fought since as he has shifted his focus back to pro wrestling full time for now.

Who do you think wins the heavyweight showdown between Bobby ‘The Almighty’ Lashley and ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar?

Dana White Says Brock Lesnar Was Tested By USADA Before Mark Hunt Fight

Dana White

Dana White has revealed that Brock Lesnar was tested for performance-enhancing drugs on multiple occasions leading up to his matchup with Mark Hunt.

UFC 200 saw the return of Lesnar to MMA after being away from the sport for just shy of five years. The former heavyweight champion would take on Hunt in his return bout and initially got the best of ‘The Super Samoan’ beating him via unanimous decision.

However, following on from the bout it was revealed the result would be changed to a no-contest due to the fact Lesnar had tested both pre-fight and post-fight for the banned substance clomiphene. People were lead to believe that this was due to Lesnar not being under regular USADA testing which allowed him a ‘free pass’ on his return which enabled him to use such banned substances.

The UFC president has now claimed that Lesnar was regularly tested in the build-up to this matchup, in a recent interview with Yahoo Sports.

“USADA was testing him, he was tested leading into that fight,” White said. “He tested negative four times before he got into that fight”

Following on from this Lesnar wouldn’t compete in the UFC again.

Dana White And USADA’s Need To Tighten Testing Regulations

What seemed to cause an issue back in 2016 appears to still be giving the UFC problems now, and although the company uses USADA for testing their athletes more needs to be done by both parties to ensure fighters are competing clean.

Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling gave his thoughts on USADA and the need to implement stronger punishments for those fighters who do get caught testing positive.

“It bothers me, man, it sure does bother me because you should do jail time for doing steroids or EPO or any type of sh*t like that in the UFC, in combat sports, in general. You can literally rearrange someone’s career, their livelihood doing contact sports, man.”

Until testing improves there will unfortunately always be athletes within the sport who try to gain a competitive edge through cheating. What more should USADA do to clamp down even further on these athletes?

Is USADA doing enough to prevent the use of PED’s within the sport?

It’s now been one decade since Brock Lesnar retired in the Octagon after losing to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.

In a rare UFC pay-per-view main event that did not feature a world title on the line, Brock Lesnar made his return after a long struggle with diverticulitis to face Alistair Overeem in The Reem’s promotional debut. After a perfectly placed liver kick, Lesnar crumbled to the canvas, and Overeem was quick to follow up with some strikes to complete the academic ending.

After the fight, a fan in attendance captured Lesnar’s Octagon interview in which he vowed not to fight again.

With rumors swirling following Brock Lesnar’s retirement at UFC 141 that he would likely make a return to the WWE at some point in 2012, it wasn’t shocking that UFC President Dana White was questioned about where Lesnar stood with the company following the announcement.

“When you retire, he retires under contract. I have no idea (how long the contract is). Listen, I’ve had my moments with Brock Lesnar but I’ve had a great relationship with him and we’ll figure it out, no big deal. Never had a situation with a guy where we haven’t done the right thing,” White said.

Lesnar would indeed return to the WWE in April of 2012 and has competed in the WWE off and on over the past 10 years, mostly working as a part-time performer during this span.

He also would compete in the Octagon after all at UFC 200. Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision, but that win was overturned to a no-contest after Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene.

There were talks of Lesnar potentially returning to fight Daniel Cormier following a UFC 226 post-fight altercation, but Lesnar would instead remain with the WWE and retire from MMA again in 2019.
