(Feb. 22, 2012) BAMMA, Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, is proud to announce that Luke Barnatt is to replace Sam Hooker; and Lewis Long is to replace Rus Smith in two fiery matches at BAMMA 9, which take place on 24th March at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.

Stepping in just five weeks before the fight, upcoming talent Luke ‘Bigslow’ Barnatt takes Sam Hooker’s place in a bout against Hyde MMA’s Lee Johnson. Lee Johnson is the more experienced fighter with a record of 5-1 and all wins secured by submission within the first two rounds.

However, fighting out of Cambridge’s Tsunami Gym -home to respected UK talent that includes John and Tommy Maguire, and Robby Olivier -Barnatt, though just two fights and two wins into his career, shows promising talent and comes from a renowned camp whose star continues to rise.

With Rus Smith out due to injury, Birmingham home-boy Tom Breese will now face new opponent, Lewis Long. Welterweight, Breese, fights out of distinguished referee, Marc Goddard’s gym; and with three rapid submission wins at BAMMA plus a flawless 8-0-0 Semi-Pro record, Breese is a daunting prospect for any undercard fighter.

One man brave enough to step up to the challenge is Lewis Long who can boast to have had just one loss in his 6 fight pro-career. With most of his wins also by submission, expect sparks to fly over some pacey, polished ground game in this hot technical match-up.

Golden Glory’s judoka, Jason Jones, is hungry to gain a shot at the Light Heavyweight title. Boasting 25 battles and 16 wins, Jones has victories by both knock-out and by submission. Misiek steps into the cage with an equally impressive array of experience and also has 16 wins to his name, but just 6 losses. Formerly the UK’s number 1 Light Heavyweight, Misiek has had time out due to injury which led to a slide in his ranking. Passionate to win back his former no. 1 position and with a win over Rea under his belt, Misiek has for a long time had his eyes set on Manuwa. This powerful match-up creates desirable opportunities for both fighters.

Press Release – (Feb. 9, 2012) BAMMA, Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, is excited to announce that BAMMA-Lonsdale’s British Middleweight Champion, Jack Marshman, is set to challenge Tom ‘Kong’ Watson for the BAMMA World Middleweight belt at BAMMA 9. BAMMA 9 takes place on Saturday 24th March at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.

BAMMA’s Middleweight champs have made waves as two of the promotion’s most iconic faces. Etched into UK mainstream memory as the man who beat Alex Reid at BAMMA 4, World Middleweight Champ Tom Watson is known by fight fans for his catalogue of tough victories over fighters that include the UFC’s John Maguire at BAMMA 1 and Maurilo Rua whom he famously blasted into retirement at BAMMA 6. BAMMA-Lonsdale’s British Middleweight Champion and serving British Armed Forces Afghan vet, Jack Marshman comes into the fight undefeated with a record of 10-0-0. Marshman wowed audiences at BAMMA 7 with his tremendous heart, after he came back from a sustained Ground ‘n’ Pound battering at the hands of Carl Noon, turning fortune around at the final hour to secure an unforgettable victory. Marshman went on to a three round war at BAMMA 8 in which he defeated title challenger Leeroy Barnes, who will be also fighting at BAMMA 9 against Nick Nembhard. The clash between BAMMA’s World Middleweight and British Middleweight champions is bound to have fight fans on the edge of their seats.
