Dana White Sounds Off on Australian Media After UFC 312: 'The Biggest P*ssies I Have Ever Seen!'

Dana White loves bringing his show to Australia, but he could do without the country’s media.

Following another record-breaking pay-per-view event in The Land Down Under, the UFC CEO sat down with members of the media to discuss the evening’s events and what comes next. Along the way, White was asked by one journalist about a news outlet in Australia that lambasted Sean Strickland for his criticism of the country.

Ahead of his return to the Octagon on Saturday, the Daily Telegraph dubbed Strickland the UFC’s biggest “imbecile” and desperately asked for someone to knock him out after he went on a rant regarding Australia’s strict gun laws and its lack of certain freedoms.

Dana white doesn’t hold back in his assessment of the Aussie media

Asked what he thought of the cover story, White admitted to finding it “f*cking hilarious” before absolutely shredding the writer and other members of the Aussie media.

“For a place that is so tough—everything on land and in the water can kill you, you have the biggest p*ssies I have ever seen in the media in my life,” White said at the UFC 312 post-fight press conference. “I saw a story where a guy was like, ‘I saw Dana do a podcast with The Premier and it physically made me sick.’ Holy f*cking sh*t. You guys have to have the biggest p*ssies of all time in the media here. Just for the record.”

For what it’s worth, the live crowd in Sydney still seemed to love Sean Strickland despite his disparaging remarks about the country. Unfortunately, ‘Tarzan’ wasn’t able to give fans inside the Qudos Bank Arena much to cheer about on Saturday night.

Throughout his five-round rematch with middleweight titleholder Dricus Du Plessis, Strickland’s offense was ineffective with punches coming few and far between. ‘DDP’ ultimately walked away with his title intact, securing a decision victory on all three scorecards after battering, bloodying, and busting Strickland’s nose in the evening’s headliner.

Australia Erupts for Alex Pereira at UFC 312 - Steals the Show and Didn't Even Throw a Punch

Alex Pereira stole the show in Australia and he didn’t even have to throw a single punch.

It’s safe to say that Aussies absolutely love the reigning light heavyweight champion, as evidenced by their raucous ovation for ‘Poatan’ during one of his appearances while in Sydney for Saturday’s UFC 312 pay-per-view event at Qudos Bank Arena.

Alex Pereira to defend his light heavyweight title at UFC 313

Of course, Pereira won’t be in action at UFC 312, but fortunately, fight fans won’t have to wait long to see the Brazilian boogeyman back in action. On March 8, ‘Poatan’ will put his 205-pound title on the line when the promotion heads back to the familiar confines of T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for a loaded UFC 313 card.

In the main event of the evening, Pereira will square off with top-ranked contender Magomed Ankalev.

Ankalaev has gone unbeaten in his last 13 fights with his last three victories coming against Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith, Johnny Walker, and Aleksandar Raki?. Overall, Ankalaev is 20-1-1 in his mixed martial arts career and 11-1-1 under the UFC banner, his lone loss coming against Paul Craig in 2018.

Pereira successfully defended his light heavyweight crown three times in 2024, besting Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka a mere nine weeks apart before scoring a fourth-round TKO against Khalil Rountree at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City. The trio of title defenses moved his UFC record to 9-1.

Australia is tired of Sean Strickland’s bullsh*t.

In a matter of hours, the former middleweight champion will look to reclaim his crown at UFC 312 when he challenges reigning titleholder Dricus Du Plessis inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. It will be his first title fight since surrendering the strap to ‘DDP’ a little more than a year ago at UFC 297 in Toronto.

Ahead of his headliner in The Land Down Under, Strickland ruffled the feathers of Aussies on Wednesday after he labeled them “English white trash” and criticized the country’s alleged lack of freedom.

“It’s a really beautiful country. I would consider Australians as English white trash,” Strickland said during the UFC 312 media day. “Some Irish, too; you know they sent the lot here. As an American white trash, I feel like I have a lot in common with you f*ckers.”

Strickland also slammed the country’s gun laws, many of which were introduced following the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 that saw 35 people killed and another 23 injured. To this day, it is the deadliest mass shooting in modern Australian history.

“You had one mass shooting and gave up all your guns, that was kind of pathetic,” he continued. “It’s the lack of freedom, dude. How insane is it that we’re in a modern country and hate speech is a thing? […] We’re in a modern country with running water, and you guys know: it’s real bad […] real f***ing bad, dude.”

Sean Strickland labeled an ‘imbecile’ by Aussie News Outlet

Strickland’s harsh words ended up on the cover of the Daily Telegraph with the publication dubbing him the “UFC’s biggest imbecile” and pleading for someone to “knock this guy out.”

As soon as the headline was brought to his attention, Strickland launched into yet another tirade claiming this is just another example of “communists” trying to control the media and suppress free speech.

“I come to this country and speak about freedom of speech, guns, and taxes, and these communists in the media try to put me down,” said Strickland. “Why? Because you want to control the media and you don’t like freedom of speech.”

Freedom of speech has been a hot-button topic in the UFC over the last couple of weeks. Particularly after featherweight standout Bryce Mitchell called Adolf Hitler a “good guy” on the debut episode of his Arkansanity podcast and said that Hitler is a guy he would have liked to go fishing with.

Mitchell’s comments were quickly condemned by Dana White, but the UFC CEO also made it abundantly clear that he would not punish ‘Thug Nasty’ for expressing his views, no matter how “ignorant” they are.

Kangaroo

In perhaps the most Australian thing to happen in the history of Australia, a martial artist punched a seven-foot-tall kangaroo that was attempting to drown his dog.

In a video clip shared by Brian Krassenstein on X, former police officer and Jiu-Jitsu black belt Mick Moloney had to bust out some ‘roo-jitsu’ when he noticed that one of his dogs had wound up in the clutches of the massive kangaroo while strolling along the Murray River in Mildura, Victoria.

Carefully approaching, Moloney appears to say “I’m going to punch you f*cking head in. Let my dog go,” moments before going on the attack.

What do you call an angry kangaroo? hopping mad!

Mick Moloney who runs Mildura Martial Arts was reportedly walking by the river with his dogs when he noticed one of them went missing.

“I saw a kangaroo … with his arms in the water, basically just staring at me,” Moloney told 7 News of the encounter. “Hutchy came up gasping for air, water spilling out of his mouth and screaming his head off. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’”

After staggering the kangaroo with a single blow, the wild animal struck back with it’s clawed paw causing Moloney to temporarily drop his phone in the water. Fortunately, all parties walked away from the roo-diculous encounter with little more than some scratches.

“I got a few (scratches),” Moloney added. “My forearm was killing me for most of the day.”
