Typically, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is a pretty calm guy.
But when Edmond Tarverdyan decided to get in his face after his fight with Travis Browne at UFC 203, Werdum responded. The Brazilian landed a front-kick to Tarverdyan – also the head coach of Ronda Rousey – that nearly started a brawl between the two corners.
Cooler heads prevailed and Tarverdyan was escorted out of the Octagon. Werdum explained what happened during his post-fight interview on FOX Sports 1.
“His coach was saying bad things,” he said. “I don’t say bad things. I’m an announcer for the UFC on Spanish TV. I kicked his belly to push him back from me. He tried to punch me. He’s a boxing coach.”
As for what might be next for Werdum, he wants a rematch with UFC champion Stipe Miocic. Earlier this year, Miocic knocked Werdum out in Brazil.
“I want to fight Miocic,” he stated. “I’m No. 1 ranked.”
