With Erik Koch injured, fellow featherweight Ricardo Lamas has stepped as a replacement at UFC 143.
As UFC officials recently announced, Lamas now meets Dustin Poirer at the Super Bowl weekend event.
Koch was forced off the card on Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury he suffered in training camp. Like Koch and Poirer, though, Lamas also is a fast-rising contender and could be close to a title shot with a victory.
