Pepperidge Farm remembers.
So too, does middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, who is apparently still holding a grudge against UFC Seattle co-headliner, Brendan Allen. Around this time last year, “All In” accused “Stillknocks” of “flying by” and “taking the easy fights” en route to the title.
Finishing Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker hardly seems easy, but whatever.
Allen, 29, who was once ranked as high as No. 7 at 185 pounds, had a chance to put himself in line for a middleweight title shot but came up short in back-to-back fights against Nassourdine Imavov (UFC Paris) and Anthony Hernandez (UFC Seattle).
Over the weekend, “All In” told his social media followers, “Who knows what’s next.”
‘’I don’t know what’s next either, but I can most certainly tell what ain’t next for a very long time,” Du Plessis replied.
Ouch.
Du Plessis recently defeated former champion, Sean Strickland, for the second time atop the UFC 312 fight card earlier this month in Sydney and is expected to move on to defend his title against undefeated contender, Khamzat Chimaev, at some point later this year.
Allen (24-7) will likely head to the back of the 185-pound line.
