At UFC 131, Junior dos Santos became the No. 1 contender for the UFC heavyweight championship.

While we know the huge fight between dos Santos and Cain Velasquez will happen soon, you have to wonder who will be next.

Enter Brendan Schaub.

After losing to Roy Nelson at the Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights Finale back in 2009, Schaub has gone 4-1, bringing his overall record to 8-1. Schaub scored the biggest win of his career when he knocked out Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 128.

Schaub is scheduled to meet Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 134.

Schaub told MMA30 that a win over Nogueira would put him in the No. 1 contender’s spot.

Although many consider Nogueira a legend in the sport, he has been out over a year due to injury.

The win may move him up some, but does Schaub really think beating a second straight aging star makes him the No. 1 contender, or is he trying to talk his way into the mix?

Schaub also said he would be open to fighting Frank Mir

UFC 131 is in the books, and we now know who Cain Velasquez will defend his title against when he returns; Junior Dos Santos.

Velasquez and dos Santos were originally suppose to meet for the title after Velasquez won the title from Brock Lesnar.

Thanks to a shoulder injury Velasquez was forced on the shelf and dos Santos made the dangerous decision to take on another fight instead of waiting for his title shot.

It has all paid off for dos Santos as he dominated Shane Carwin with on his way to a title shot.

The UFC makes its way back to the True North this Saturday as UFC 131 takes place live from Vancouver, British Columbia.

The card will be headlined by two of MMA’s most dangerous strikers, Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin. It will also feature Kenny Florien making his featherweight debut against Diego Nunes.

Originally the card was supposed to feature former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Lesnar was forced to pull out due to another bout with diverticulitis.

Despite the loss of Lesnar, expect the card to be an exciting show. Here are my predictions for submission, KO and fight of the night.

TUF 13 Finale Results: Jim Miller Still Ahead of Guida

Despite beating former No. 1 contender Anthony Pettis, Clay Guida will still have to wait in line for a lightweight title shot.

UFC President Dana White told MMAfighting that Jim Miller (20-2) is ahead of Guida in the divisional rankings despite his win over Pettis.

Miller is currently riding a seven-fight win streak. The only two loses in his career have come to current lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and Grey Maynard.

For months now Miller has been trying to plead his case for a title shot. Maybe he’ll get his wish sooner than later.

Many may feel Guida deserves the title shot since he beat the No. 1 contender. On the other hand despite being taken down over and over, Pettis was able to fight off of his back, nearly putting Guida in submission holds multiple times.

Miller can make his case even stronger if he is able to get past former WEC lightweight champion Ben Henderson at UFC Live Lytle vs. Hardy in August.

Because it is unknown when exactly the championship bout between Edgar and Maynard will take place, a possible bout between Guida and the winner of Miller vs. Henderson could determine who the No. 1 contender really is.

As much as the Ultimate Fighter has been known for giving unknown MMA fighters a chance to fight for a UFC contract, it has also been know for the teams coaches going at it.

Some coaches are picked because of title implications. Others just make for good tv or have grudges with one another.

This season of TUF was a letdown for many. Some of the fighters and coaches alike lacked the personality and flare that past seasons have brought us.

Both Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos have been respectful to each other making for boring television.

This season’s relatively calmness could change next season when Michael Bisping coaches against Jason “Mayhem” Miller.  Both guys are known for their personalities, and have the ability to work their opponents’ nerves.

Here are some other coaching match ups that people may want to see.
