Dana White is promising a heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall sometime in 2025, but the deal isn’t quite done yet.
Fight fans have been patiently waiting for a long-awaited clash between Jones, who is the current UFC heavyweight champion, and Aspinall, who holds the interim title. Aspinall has looked like the new era of heavyweight since his UFC arrival back in 2020. The English champion has turned in a 8-1 UFC record (all wins being a finish) with his only loss coming due to a leg injury. If anyone deserves a shot at undisputed UFC gold it’s Aspinall.
During Aspinall’s five-year UFC tenure, Jones has only fought two times, finishing UFC heavyweight legend Stipe Miocic and former interim champion Ciryl Gane. There are rumors going around that Jones may want up to six months to prepare for Aspinall after the fight gets signed, which has left fight fans wondering when the greatest fighter of all time will actually return to action.
White, who still hasn’t been able to book an actual date for Jones vs. Aspinall, reassured fight fans on Friday that a deal was “done, but it’s not done.” It’s anyone guess when the heavyweight title fight will actually go down, but White promises it will be the biggest of all time.
“The fight’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of when now” ?
Dana White is steadfast that Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall for the heavyweight championship of the world is going to happen soon.

“It’s going to happen,” said White in an interview with TNT Sports. “It’s done, but it’s not done. Not done enough to sit right here now and announce it and give you a date. But fight’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of getting it signed now.
“If we pull this off and actually make the fight, announce it and start leading up to it, this will be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history.”
Jones, who has been busy becoming part-owner of Dirty Boxing Championship, is just one or two fights away from stepping away from the game for good. The former UFC light heavyweight champion may even consider retirement right now if a deal with UFC doesn’t get done, which puts a lot of pressure on White and UFC brass.
“I said it when we first started talking about it and I’ve said it many times in between, and I’ll say it now,” said White. “The fight’s going to happen.”
What do you think? Will Jones vs. Aspinall actually get done in 2025? If so, when will it go down?
